Rock 'n' Roll
Rock 'n' Roll: A New Play | Tom Stoppard
8 posts | 2 read
Rock n Roll is an electrifying collision of the romantic and the revolutionary. It is 1968 and the world is ablaze with rebellion, accompanied by a sound track of the Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan. Clutching his prized collection of rock albums, Jan, a Cambridge graduate student, returns to his homeland of Czechoslovakia just as Soviet tanks roll into Prague. When security forces tighten their grip on artistic expression, Jan is inexorably drawn toward a dangerous act of dissent. Back in England, Jans volcanic mentor, Max, faces a war of his own as his free-spirited daughter and his cancer-stricken wife attempt to break through his walls of academic and emotional obstinacy. Over the next twenty years of love, espionage, chance, and loss, the extraordinary lives of Jan and Max spin and intersect until an unexpected reunion forces them to see what is truly worth the fight.

Today I have been mainly doing dot-to-dot portraits (Alfred Hitchcock, Andy Warhol, Judy Garland & the Mona Lisa no less!) Never let it be said that I don't live a rock n roll lifestyle 🤣🤣🤣🤣

It is actually surprisingly relaxing and also mildly addictive!

DivineDiana This looks like fun! 🙂 4y

Kiss kicked off their US tour in Portland tonight. First time seeing them. They were awesome! Even though they were 2 hours late.

Grateful to the husband employer for hooking us up with free tickets.

TrishB 2 hours late! I hate when artists do that... 6y
MarriedtoMrT Honestly, the way my brain works, if they were two hours late I would‘ve been too pissed off to enjoy even the most wonderful show. 6y
That-Bookish-Hiker @TrishB @MarriedtoMrT what sucked even more is the doors were suppose to open at 6 but they didn‘t let us in until 8 and the show was suppose to start at 7:30. We had been standing in line since 5:30. Then they didn‘t get on stage until 9:30. We were told the reason they started late was because they got stuck in customs since they kicked the tour off in Canada the night before. 6y

MarriedtoMrT @That-Bookish-Hiker That‘s a (possibly) legit reason but to not let you in when they said doors open! Ugh. 6y
TrishB Possibly correct reasons - but could have let you in for shelter/food/drink etc 6y
That-Bookish-Hiker @MarriedtoMrT @TrishB the reason was understandable because stuff happens. It was frustrating they wouldn‘t let anyone in while they were putting the stage up and a lot of fans where starting to get restless. 6y

Ah Daryl Palumbo how I love thee. 😍

I never thought I‘d be able to see Glassjaw perform and was so happy when I heard they were coming to Portland. Last night was amazing.

There is an awesome 21 and over arcade in Portland. The husband and I are killing time before we see Glassjaw in concert.

I can‘t believe I‘m actually going to see Glassjaw perform live. I‘m so excited!! 🤯🤩

Seeing Depeche Mode tonight but it‘s so hard to stay awake when you wake up at between 3 and 5 am to go to work. Usually on any given night around 7 pm you‘d find me on my couch half asleep with a book covering my face lol.
I‘m trying so hard to stay awake.

Susannah Hope it's worth it! I love Depeche Mode, a holdover from my high-angst teenage years. 😁 7y
Rachbb3 I saw them on the 8th. They are still so good after all these years. Enjoy!!! 7y
That-Bookish-Hiker @Susannah @Rachbb3 they were amazing! As soon as their first song was finished I felt all my energy come back and I was no longer sleepy. 7y

Susannah I'm so glad it was a good show! And now I'm starting to wonder why I've never seen them?? 7y
That-Bookish-Hiker @Susannah @TrishB @Centique I have to be honest and tell you guys I‘ve never listened to Depeche Mode 🙈 but I went for my husband. I will say after that concert I am a fan. They were amazing! Seriously one of the best concerts I have ever been to. 7y
TrishB @That-Bookish-Hiker yay 👍 a new fan 7y
