Ellie believes that going to boarding school in California, surrounded by ocean and open spaces, will cure her claustrophobia. Once there, she discovers that Eliza Hart, her childhood best friend, is also a student there -- and Ellie is eager to rekindle their friendship. But Eliza spreads rumors about Ellie, saying she's a liar, a stalker. Add to that Ellie's fear of having people find out about her phobia, and she becomes an outcast. Then Eliza Hart is found dead. Ellie is determined to find out what happened to her one-time BFF. Only her suitemate Sam will help her... because to everyone else, Ellie looks like a suspect. As the walls close in around her, can Ellie clear her name and find out the truth about Eliza Hart? Her hunt for the truth will push her out into the open -- and also deep into her own memories of her childhood with Eliza Hart. This book is both a gripping mystery, and a sensitive and moving portrayal of depression and mental health issues.

I would give this book a 9.5/10. This book brings so much awareness to mental health issues and how it affects people around them. In this book it highlights teenagers point of view on this as well. It showed how masking and not getting your help for issues is not the right way to about it and how it won‘t always end well.

Eliza Hart is the most popular girl at school. Her body is found at the bottom of a cliff.....
How would you feel if suddenly everyone thought you were crazy and somehow partially to blame......
Ellie is claustrophobic. Not crazy. And didnt hurt Eliza. They were childhood best friends.
But people can change.......

I thought this book was going to focus on a mystery but I was pleasantly surprised that it also covered depression.

The story is told in two POV‘s, Ellie and Eliza. Eliza is well-liked and popular girl while Ellie struggles to fit in with her peers. Both girls have a mental illness and suffer with dealing with them. I liked seeing each girls life with their mental illness.

This was a surprising read that I ended up really loving.

I was not sure what this book was about at first. It was a rough start. But it found itself in its message about mental health.
