#WarIsHell, but comedy writers have managed to find humour in the situation, not least the writers of Blackadder Goes Forth. The very final scene of the series is one of the most moving television moments ever.

#ThePowerOfGoodbye made me think of the last episode of Blackadder Goes Forth, entitled Goodbyeee. The last scene is incredible - the characters are shown, in slow motion, going “over the top”; the scene then fades out and the scene of the battle as it is today, a poppy field, fades in. Working with this beautiful 15th century prayer book today. The image on the left of the man praying to a vision of Christ on the cross is believed to be a portrait of the patron Archbishop Blackadder of St Andrews (my alma mater)
