Would You Rather...? The Big Book
Would You Rather...? The Big Book: Over 1,500 Absolutely Absurd Dilemmas to Ponder | Justin Heimberg, David Gomberg
23 posts
Since the publication of the first Would You Rather...? title in 1997, Justin Heimberg and David Gomberg have gone forth to spawn a franchise that shows no signs of slowing down or growing old. In this hilariously hefty addition to the series, the authors have created more than 1,500 all-new, never-before-published questions that will have regular readers and newcomers alike laughing out loud as they ponder the often outrageous, sometimes sinful, usually unusual, and unfailingly uproarious questions posed.

AnneCecilie I think I‘d prefer a modern one. So far this Christmas most of my Christmas books are new stories and I‘ve enjoyed those. 6y
Bookwormjillk Classic for sure 6y
TheAromaofBooks I usually end up reading the modern ones, but I enjoy the classics. 6y

1. In a library!
2. Be my favorite fictional character
3. Always cry a bit while reading
4. Hard decision! I would read about my country's history.
5. Always read the back cover blurb

2. Cover
3. Forest
4. Fantasy
5. Mr. Darcy. Love my Austen heroes!

1. Beer...craft beer.
2. Cover, but either way I'm sure there'd be many duds.
3. Forest. I love trees and shade.
4. Realistic. Fantasy is probably my least favorite genre.
5. Mr. Darcy please.

Kalalalatja True about number 2. There's just no sure way of always getting an amazing book. 8y

I love these!!! #BookishWouldYouRather Here goes:

1)As much as I like beer, I'd rather have wine. It makes me feel classy and smart with a book :)
2) I definitely have the habit of judging a book by it's cover and buy quite often just because I love the way it looks 😮
3) I'm going to say the forest. Too much sun and sand at the beach for me.
4) Fantasy for sure
5) Ummm Mr. Darcy, of course 💖

@Kalalalatja

Here's another one. I have no idea how old this one is, but it looks like fun so I'm going to play!
1. OMG NEVER! 😱
2. Hmmm... tea, I guess
3. Fantasy for sure! I'd probably have some crazy powers or something! 😃
4. During the evening
5. Hmmm, this one is tough. Be an author, I guess. (Though I'm pretty sure I'm not disciplined enough for that to ever actually happen.) 😜

1.)chocolate - I'm afraid the fruit would ruin the pages more than chocolate might.
2.) Colored! I despise deckled edges.
3.) Stand alone - I have a tendency to lose interest in series over time
4.) is the jabberwocky alive? Wonderland for sure.
5.) Librarian; I feel like working in publishing would anger me

1. Tough choice, they're both messy. Probably chocolate.
2. Colored edges.
3. Standalone. I'm terrible at finishing series.
4. Neverland. Wonderland always makes me think of drugs.
5. LIBRARIAN! but that's not fair, because I am one. Publishing always struck me as too competitive, and there's a great collaborative environment in librarianship. Based on my experience, anyway.

Thanks again, @Kalalalatja
#bookishwouldyourather

Kalalalatja Now I think about it, you are right. Wonderland definitely feels kinda trippy 😄 8y
Kalalalatja @rubyslippersreads this might be me not knowing enough about the subject, but what did Barrie have to do with the du Mauriers? I thought Peter Pan was inspired by the Llewelyn Davies boys?! (edited) 8y
See All 13 Comments
gossamerchild @rubyslippersreads is it terrible that I based my answer mostly on the movies? I've read Alice and really don't like it (partially because I can't tell if I'm sober or not 😉), but haven't read Peter Pan. 8y
gossamerchild @Kalalalatja whoa. I didn't know that either 😳 8y
rubyslippersreads @Kalalalatja It was based on the boys, whose mother was a du Maurier. But their association with J.M. Barrie and Peter Pan was kind of odd, and didn't make the boys' lives very happy. It's a fascinating book, though, as is 8y
Kalalalatja @gossamerchild @rubyslippersreads I knew the relationships between Barrie and the boys were rumored to be rather problematic, but it is definitely a subject I need to read more about. I would also recommend this play, which deals with the subject a bit 8y
Caterina @Kalalalatja @rubyslippersreads @gossamerchild I don't know much about the IRL stuff, but the book itself gives me the creeps. It's so violent and unhappy and occasionally creepy! 8y
gossamerchild @Kalalalatja @rubyslippersreads this is a fascinating conversation. Thanks for sharing your "further reading" selections, I will definitely stack those ? 8y
rubyslippersreads @Kalalalatja @gossamerchild That sounds right up my alley! Thanks! 8y
gossamerchild @Caterina maybe I should rethink my answer? Actually, somebody else mentioned Oz, I think I might go with that 😉 8y
Megabooks The competitiveness is exactly what i think I'd like about publishing. 8y
gossamerchild @Booksandcooks that's very excellent! I suck at competition 😉 8y

Some (like chocolate) are easy. But so many of my favorites are series (Emily of New Moon, Betsy-Tacy, Oz) and some are stand-alone (GWTW, Pride & Prejudice), so I really couldn't stick to that choice. 😒 And finally, the obvious answer to #4 is OZ! 😄 #bookishwouldyourather

mom2bugnbee I said Narnia for #4, but I won't argue with you about Oz. 😉 8y
Kalalalatja I know, I myself had a difficult time choosing between stand alones and series. 👎 and I have to make an Oz question at some point 😄 8y
