Thank you to the 10 GOP Reps who voted to impeach.
A week from now, he won‘t be President. Maybe we can start to begin again.

Sounds like President Donald Trump to me....

I think my watch is trying to tell me something...
Everything about Trump' s administration pisses me off anymore. This book brings up a lot of good points On why he can and should be impeached. On the one hand I hope he does get impeached, on the other I think Pence would be worse. As much as I hate it I think we are screwed for the next 3.5 years. #dolt45 #impeachtrump #resist
Lichtman, a history professor, puts together information available in the public domain to demonstrate the many ways in which Trump is likely to be headed toward impeachment. It's a compelling, chilling read which disgusts but doesn't surprise me. Well put together and informative regardless of your politics. (Personally, I think the Russian stuff will take him down. Time will tell.)
Of course it comes available once I've started another book... oh well looks like I'm reading 3 books at once. Good thing the other two are chapter a days lol
I'd always wondered about this...
On an overcast Saturday morning, I read, I sip, I ponder. And I'm grateful for all you dear Littens who remind me daily of the good --and sane-- things in life that are worth fighting for. 💜
Some light dinner reading. Chapter 1 covers the impeachment trial of President Andrew Johnson (Lincoln's VP), and how --after a 3-month trial-- the Senate failed by one vote to convict. Many historians think the reason for the failed impeachment was that many Senators did not like the lawful successor (at the time, not the VP but the President Pro Tem of the Senate).
In the beginning...
All of my libraries have it out. Should I spend my audible credit or be patient?
** Library has it in hard back! All the digital copies are out. So I only have to wait until tomorrow **
As an outsider I was curious about the history, mechanics & politics of impeachment. This book offers a little of that, but mainly it is a catalog of Trump's misdeeds & the type of thing that might serve as a pretext to impeach him.
It reads like a digest of the past year's Trump-critical news items. But Trump just doing something impeachable doesn't mean impeachment is inevitable. I wanted more insight about the broader political climate.
Finished this on the plane home tonight. Could tell publication was rushed - could have used a little more editing, but author was definitely preaching to the choir with me - I would like to give it to someone with opposite views from me and see if it could finally change their outlook.
