I'm on a serious romance kick.
2.5 Stars
Why so low?
1. So cliché. You could look up the definition of cliché and find this book there.
2. Such a possessive love interest (liked that the protagonist was wearing a sweater so no one else could see “his” shoulders.
3. Went from hating each other to engaged in like 3.4 seconds

My life has been filled with insomnia riddled anxiety episodes that last from 2-6, just in time for an 8 shift at work. What have I been doing with that time, you ask. Well, NOT reading. Anxiety completely banishes any desire to read. I just pace, fidget, and cry. But last night, I read a romance. Lordie, was this good. Funny, excellent pacing, lovely characters. I had moments were I forgot 45 was president and my people were being persecuted.
This was just the book I needed to cheer myself up over the weekend 😍💖 #JulyBooks #RomCom #Enchanted ✨ #EnemiesToLovers
Delightful enemies to lovers story. Manhattan socialite who parties all night starts to bump into straitlaced workaholic divorce lawyer at 5 a.m. in their apt lobby. Reluctant attraction turns to passion and occasionally hurtful banter becomes caring after each is felled by the flu. A complication ensues but Layne pulls back from melodrama, leading to a satisfying ending. It‘s as if Mark Darcy falls in love with Carrie Bradshaw. #romantsy
A socialite and a divorce lawyer go from bickering neighbors to happily ever after. Very sweet.
Even though the book was a bit predictable, I found myself really liking it. The main character's tone was really fun. Good for when you don't want to think when reading.
This book was a pick if you take it for what it was- a breezy will they/won't they, albeit predictable, romance. It held my interest, even though new adult type books always have me rolling my eyes a bit once things get steamy. I was a bit taken aback by the rushed feeling this book gave me at different points, but it was still enjoyable overall. Then again, I've always been a sucker for a good love/hate story. Any good recommendations?
My last read was pretty heavy, so I think a palate cleanse is in order. Plus, I've heard good things about this one!
Work has been rough lately so l have been on a #romantsy kick to maintain my sanity. Even after reading some good reviews I wasn't sure I would be able to relate to a socialite character but Georgie showed me narrow minded I was being. She was a whirling dervish of delight. I also really like grumpy heroes so Andrew was right up my alley. It was a slow burn enemy to lovers romance with some great 5 am bickering.
I pretty much read this all last night. It was cute, funny and made me smile. Its tone reminded me a lot of The Hating Game by Sally Thorne so if you liked that, you will enjoy this too☺️
Let's get this out of the way. Not a fan of the title of this book--especially because it doesn't fit in the generally understood sense. Otherwise, this was typical LL fun. She did a great job with the stick-up-his-butt, Darcy-esque hero and the polar opposite heroine was a cute foil. There was one reveal that felt a little under-explored and the extent of the HEA felt a little too much for how little they knew each other but oh well ☺️ #romantsy
*Almost* exactly what I was hoping it would be. An ultimate romcom with fabulous banter.
That said, I think maybe the buildup lasted a bit too long leaving only a short amount of time for the get-together/implode/make-up portion. I wanted more together time than just tease time.
Still, a really fun contemporary and definitely a favorite LL for me. It filled the Love, Chloe (tagged below) shaped hole in my life
Lauren Layne knows how to spin a ridiculously good story - and this one is no exception! She just keeps getting better with every book she writes.
Walk of Shame is slightly different from Lauren's usual books - more of a rom-com. The socialite Georgianna is completely lovable, along with the adorable divorce attorney Andrew.
Completely worth staying up late to finish reading their story! 5⭐ #romantsy #laurenlayne
To say I love this book might just be an understatement, the plot is almost Cinderella like, but rather than needing saving from poverty and hardship, Georgie wants to be loved, for exactly who she is, and damn it! This book reduced me to tears, but then I tend to when reading a Lauren Layne books, as her writing is just SO beautiful.
After all that gushing, there is only once score I could give this book...5 stars!
I loved Georgie. She was so much fun. She was three-dimensional, complex character. She was probably my favorite character of LL‘s to date. Andrew was a tough nut to crack though. While I really liked him, it was harder to love him. I totally LOVED him, but it wasn‘t insta-love for me. The dislike for each other and sexual tension between the two for the first half of book was just so enjoyable. I just loved everything about this book.
"If you're wondering what Andrew Mulroney looks like while he's in workout mode, picture this: Thor and Captain America somehow defeat biology and have a love child together. And call him Andrew."
