🍂 I have, but not until I had a child of my own and we built one for her, then both curled up and read for a while.
🍂 🍂 There are so many honestly, but the tagged book was the first book I remember checking out by myself at the school library and the story has stuck with me so much that I found a copy for my daughter and we read it together now.

This book will be used in my classroom to shine a light on how you can go through a difficult time has a family but also work through that as a family. As long as your together and work for something it can happen.

This book is cute and shows how a family can over come a tragedy together.

“Grandma and mama and I all sat in the chair while Ida took our picture.“ I just think that is the sweetest little image with all 3 generations and how much that chair means to all of them.

I love this book because it not only is a family book, but I think could teach teamwork, caring, empathy, perseverance, and love. I think this book would be perfect for K-4 because it emphasizes that although the little girl wants something, the mother works so hard to get something she deserves and that could be a lesson for all the age groups there.

A Chair for my Mother, Vera B. Williams, 2007, Caldecott. This story takes us through a life for a daughter and her mother after a devaesting house fire. The little girl takes us back to when the fire happened and how they had nothing left, especially no couch or big chairs to sit in. All her mother wants is a chair to sit in after work, they save up enough money for just that.

This is a great book to teach children the idea that if you work for something, you can do it. Also that if you set your mind to something you can do it. I think the overall message of the book is really sweet.

This book is a fiction Caldecott honor book. It is about a family that lost everything in a fire and had to move to start all over again. Generous family members and friends gave them many household objects, but they really wanted a big soft chair. The mother brought home the biggest jar she could find and they all saved and put coins until the jar until it was full, once it was they went and bought the chair. #ucflae3414su19

Day 20 of #30junebooks is #picturebook! I love this book so much. I remember it from Reading Rainbow when I was a kid. I‘ve read it to my 5yo several times lately, and I get choked up every. single. time. Which she doesn‘t understand at all. 😂🤷🏼‍♀️

This book is so sweet! It melts my heart! It‘s about a girl, her mom and grandmother. Their house burned down and they lost all their furniture. This made them dream of a chair they wanted as they saved up tbeir change in a jar to buy one. The chair symbolizes their love for each other and the time they enjoy spending together in their chair. The illusions were good and you could tell the point of view is from the girl/child‘s perspective.

I loved this one as a kid, and it was great to introduce my son to it. It is realistic, with a Mom who works hard and family that doesn‘t have a lot of money, but is also hopeful and full of love.

A Chair for My Mother has been my favorite book since i was a little girl till this day i have it in my book collection. This realistic fiction book written by Vera B. Williams is most defiantly my favorite book to read even till today. This book is known for winning a Caldecott award.
