An ancient sin. A long forgotten oath. A town with a deadly secret. Something evil is at work in Hyde River, an isolated mining town in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest. Under the cover of darkness, a predator strikes without warningtaking life in the most chilling and savage fashion. The community of Hyde River watches in terror as residents suddenly vanish. Yet, the more locals are pressed for information, the more they close ranks, sworn to secrecy by their forefathers hidden sins. Only when Hyde Rivers secrets are exposed is the true extent of the danger fully revealed. What the town discovers is something far more deadly than anything theyd imagined. Something that doesnt just stalk its victims, but has the power to turn hearts black with decay as it slowly fills their souls with darkness.

1. Tagged book. I haven‘t read it since high school but I remember reading it late at night and being freaked out by parts of it. And I‘m a wuss with horror movies - just about any of them make me want to sleep with lights on 😂
2. Fantasy isn‘t my go-to genre so the only thing I can really think of is Harry Potter. Maybe How to Train Your Dragon - there‘s some magic/witch elements in that
3. Black or navy

This was so long and just too slow for me. It reminded me of something Stephen King would write, but it just didn‘t have the suspense and excitement that a typical horror book would have. I thought the concept was really interesting, but I just couldn‘t get into it. First book of 2021!!! Hopefully the next one is better 😂😂😂

This was a very exciting book. The descriptions of the monster terrorizing the town were amazing. I went into this book not knowing that Peretti was considered a Christian author. The book was well written and I felt invested in the main character and his quest. The head of the town was an evil man corrupted by power. The manifestation of sin was fascinating. The very ending seemed a bit too easy but this book is a page turner.

Just listened to the first episode and its a keeper. If you watch MSNBC you are familiar with Chuck‘s style, you will like this show. Very interesting first episode (I won‘t say who it was but there was no mention of the 2016 election).

1. The tagged book I guess. For being a fan of Stephen King I haven't read any of the ones everyone says scared them. I do remember staying up late finishing The Oath and being freaked while doing so 😂
2. Pet Semetary
3. Hm…had a random guy at my old apartment knocking on my door in the middle of the night. He was drunk I think and persisted for a while before finally going away 😂

This was just a gripping tale. My heartbeat was racing through this entire story. I loved this adventure! Frank Peretti is truly a wonderful tasteful writer. I don't think I have yet to read any of his books that I have disliked. Truly magical and inspirational.
