Thanks for the tag @Yuki_Onna 😊

1) Sexiest: Miss Celestial Temple & Rosamunde Contessa di Lacquer-Sforza from Glass Books 💙

Dweebiest: Ned Nickerson (Nancy Drew's bf rocks some alliteration, but his name has Knickers in it. And I'm a child.)

Best-to-name-a-cat-after: Tywin Lannister

2) Tagged. Love this book. Currently reading the sequel... it's... 😬😬😬 not as good.

Eggs Love these names and titles🤗🤗 1y

The writing was actually quite nice, but a WHOLE lot of reading for no real story development. I gave it about 150 pages and when I still had no real idea of what was happening and I gave up. I don‘t have time or patience for that kind of book. If you like that style though, it would be a good book for you.

dabbe Hello, Gorgeous Castle! 🖤🐾🖤 1y
Bookwomble I did enjoy this book, but totally get what you mean. The second book was more so, and I haven't yet been able to bring myself to read the third yet. 1y

Pickpick

Just finished my 3rd reading of this old fave.

This pervy Steampunk action adventure novel still has my heart. There just isn't any other single volume that I can compare it to in ambition & scope. It was the first time I'd ever read anything like it, & once again, I became fully immersed in the world.

Attitudes in the book feel Victorian, so expect some problematic content, and avoid if you don't like anything long winded!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Cinfhen Fantastic photo and excellent book review!!! That‘s a hard prompt! Well done 😊 1y
RaeLovesToRead @Cinfhen There were a few re-read prompts this year... I don't usually do re-reading so yeah... bit of a challenge 1y
MissHel Oh my gosh! I thought I dreamed this book! I‘m so amazed anyone else has read it. Did you read the rest of the series? I can‘t even find copies online. 1y
RaeLovesToRead @MissHel It's awesome 🥰 I've read the 1st one 3 times and the 2nd one once before. Now gonna read the rest of the series and finally finish what I've started. You can get overseas delivery from Waterstones. P&P is quite pricey, but you can get the whole lot and it's about £11 postage! 😁💕 1y

Remember that graphic that compared choice of bookmark to D&D alignments (Lawful Good, Chaotic Neutral etc...)?

Where do you reckon Kindle-as-bookmark comes?

Chaotic Evil? 🤣🤣

Leftcoastzen Actually, they asked librarians what was the weirdest stuff they found used as bookmarks, bacon & sliced cheese were among the answers !😱 1y
RaeLovesToRead @LatrelWhite Thanks! I got it online... I live in the UK so sadly we've not got Barnes & Noble here! 😔 1y
RaeLovesToRead @Leftcoastzen That... is heinous! 1y
vivastory There was an awful trend a couple of years ago when people were posting wacky/destructive things as bookmarks. I remember seeing posts including food for bookmarks. I do support the Kindle as a bookmark. Sorta like using a smaller book as a bookmark lol (edited) 1y
RaeLovesToRead @vivastory Good grief, that sounds terrible! I assure you, my book is unscathed! 🤣 1y
LaraReads Been there. Done that! I‘ve also used another book as a bookmark. Never food though! 😅 1y
RaeLovesToRead @LaraReads Hahaha, I think using food as a bookmark has got to get one banned from Litsy 🤣🤣 Is there a Litsy police? 1y

1) A fictional Victorian-style city
Thune - a D&D style city
An exclusive college in Vermont
The Realm of the Elderlings

2) Any dark academia or gothic setting has the power to win me over. Also, Japan.

3) Anywhere with a vintage-futuristic aesthetic: for example, Bioshock's Rapture, Fallout's post-apocalyptic retro world or Dishonored whale-oil-punk Victoriana.

The_Penniless_Author What is the "exclusive college in Vermont"? 2y
RaeLovesToRead @The_Penniless_Author Don't know if it actually exists. Setting of the Secret History. Hampden? 2y

Did I just scrabble around my bedroom looking for books to load into a rucksack in a pretend apocalypse? (Perhaps)

Is that a Final Fantasy viii strategy guide? (Maybe)

Does anyone know where my Complete Poems of John Donne has gone? 🤨 (No?)

Why didn't I purchase the last two Fitz books BEFORE the apocalypse??? (Rae! 🧐)

Will I change my mind on these selections in 5 mins? (Almost definitely)

I HAVE MORE QUESTIONS, LITSY!

1) The Glass Books of the Dream Eaters - Steampunk, adventure mystery, or The Last - post-apocalyptic mystery!

2) How about Mystery, Sci Fi (or Fantasy) & a pinch of Psychological Horror? 🤔

3) Splatterpunk Sports Biography 🤣🤣

What about you?

#ihavequestions

CBee Omg #3 is 😂😂😂 2y
RaeLovesToRead @CBee "Blood was spurting everywhere as he laid waste to the Sunday morning crowd with his cricket bat..." in fairness, I think this new genre will be a hit! 2y

IndoorDame Wow! I can‘t think of something I‘d be less inclined to read than #3! 2y
RaeLovesToRead @IndoorDame You wouldn't pick up "Night of the Living Dead: British Curling edition" or "Ronnie O'Sullivan's Revenge"?? ?? 2y
IndoorDame @RaeLovesToRead hmmmm, NO 🤣But somehow I believe you that it‘s going to be a hit. I think especially one on curling and zombies 🧟‍♀️ (not that I‘m super clear what curling is tbh 🤣) 2y
rockpools Ah. May. Zing. I can probably find you a market for the NoLD Curling edition 😁. 2y
RaeLovesToRead @IndoorDame "The Zombie slid forward carefully on the ice, gently letting go of the stone... the crowd gasped realising that his hand has come off and slid down the sheet too, attached to the stone... despite that it knocked the opponents stone clean away!" 2y
RaeLovesToRead @rockpools New NaNoWriMo project?? 2y
rockpools @RaeLovesToRead perfect. If you hold the book launch at Gladstone‘s I‘ll make sure the local zombie curling community are out in force🧌(Not too sure what he‘s carrying, but it looks like a broom to me!) 2y
RaeLovesToRead @rockpools I love it! 😄 2y
CBee @IndoorDame I will never understand curling as long as I live 😂🫢 2y
CBee @RaeLovesToRead you might be on to something, you never know 🤔😂 2y
DaveGreen7777 Why is it when I heard “Splatterpunk Sports Biography”, I immediately started thinking about hockey players?!? 🏒 Reminds me of the old joke, “One time I went to a fight, and a hockey game broke out!” 😂 2y
RaeLovesToRead @DaveGreen7777 Hahaha, oh no! It looks like my new hybrid genre has already been done! 🤣🤣 2y
TheSpineView Thanks for the tag 2y

Branwen Splatterpunk Sports Biography! 🤣😂🤣 I don't like any of those genres either, but I feel like I would read them combined! 😂 2y

✒ Neil Gaiman
📺 Game of Thrones
🎞 The Grand Budapest Hotel
🎤🎸 Gary Moore
🎶 Gods and Monsters (Lana Del Rey) Bonus song: Girls like girls (Hayley Kiyoko)

vivastory I can't name a favorite song. I can tell you that Born to Die is my favorite album. Some of my faves off of it: Radio, Summertime Sadness, Video Games & Lucky Ones. I also really liked Chemtrails Over the Country Club. It was one of my fave albums of last year. For me she is quintessential summer music 2y

#sundaysoapbox @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks

I am definitely drawn to books based on their covers. Here are just a few examples...

I haven't yet read Stay up with me, Daughter of the Moon Goddess or A is for Arsenic but they are tantalising.

Things I am drawn to:
- Gold lettering & designs
- Lit up windows in the dark
- Deco style
- Steampunk
- Beautiful simplicity
- Lamplight / lanterns

tokorowilliamwallace Can't fault you for the art deco. 3y
RaeLovesToRead @tokorowilliamwallace I love the Deco aesthetic 😊 3y
Branwen YES to that whole list! Daughter of the Moon Goddess is 👌❤❤❤❤ 3y

RaeLovesToRead @Branwen I popped into Meadowhall Waterstones today and asked if they had any sprayed ones... they said they were put out first so they're all gone 😔 If I don't manage to squirrel one out in the next few days, I'll send you the non-sprayed one (which is still absolutely beautiful - debatably just as lovely as the sprayed one, in fact... it's a close call!) 😁💕 3y
Branwen @RaeLovesToRead YAY! Oh I am so excited! Thank you SO VERY MUCH! I am honestly just as excited now for the non sprayed pages edition because that cover is just...absolutely breathtaking and I am so in love with it! 😍 I'm BEYOND excited to get it and I can't thank you enough, my friend! 💕💕💕 3y

RaeLovesToRead @Branwen Oki doki.. I will send you the non-sprayed one (honestly, when it arrived I genuinely thought it was just as nice)... if I happen to come across the limited edition one, I'll grab you a copy, but I'll get the other one in the post tomorrow! 😊 3y

#BeginsWith @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Eggs

I bought this book for a dollar at a thrift store and I forgot I had it. It's time to move it up on my reading list. It sounds really good.

Leniverse I bought the whole trilogy at a garage sale because the covers and titles called out to me. My edition has a shiny blue carnival mask on it and looks very mysterious. 😄 I still haven't read them because the print is so tiny. The Spouse read them though (and he gets eyestrain headaches really easily, so I have no excuse). He says they are great and I really should read them. 3y
