This is Frank Miller's retelling of the Batman origin story. It's well thought through, and the artwork adds depth to the story.
There's no villains in this one. It's just an introduction to Bruce Wayne and how he became Batman.

My daughter and I spent the evening at the book store and then reading our books at dinner ❤️
How can you not read this amazing frank miller comic? A new twist on Batman‘s core origin and his start out in Gotham
I didn‘t enjoy it very much at all. The art was a little too old-school for me. The story was all over the place and not very personal. I did relate to this character though, haha! Same name as me, same German heritage, and same frustration with Germans all being lumped into the bad category. Not the little affair with Gordo though...

Fiction: bruce's parents were gunned down in front of him and he so much anger and used the anger for good instead of just getting revenge.
This makes him relatable because we all feel hatred and grief at some point, of course it was not as traumatic.
Genre: Graphic novel
Date:Sept 28 to Oct 1.
Why I picked this book: I picked this book because It introduces the corruption within Gotham and the crime families involved. The crime family is in another book that I'm going to read next.
Summary: This book is about Batman's first year as a crime fighter. This is also a origin of Jim Gordon relationship with batman.
My rating of the book: 9/10
Classic looking artwork, classic Batman! It even shows an illustration of one of those old Mickey Mouse phones... you know which ones I'm talking about? The one where Mickey is holding the yellow receiver... yeah that one! 🤣🤣🤣 Year One is definitely one to have on your shelves if you're a Batman fan.
2pts for #TeamStoker

This is my first of Batman, was this not where I should've started? Can someone point me in the right direction?
"Hey kid! Ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight?" Frank Miller's work has no equal. And his Batman is forever my Batman. Year One is an origin story for all of Gotham's iconic character: Jim Gordon, Selena Kyle, Alfred, Bruce...
This Batman origin story was gritty and powerful. Shows Gordon in a light I have not seen him before. The art is amazing and the characters as compelling as always. Batman keeps pulling me in and leaving me wanting more. The rich playboy ;)

These are the two I read yesterday to finish up my #LetsGetGraphicMonthlyFeature weekend. I didn‘t get through my whole stack of GNs, but I did get through the ones specifically about Batman (most of which were on my TBR list). Year One is awesome! There were a few little strange details, but mostly I loved it. And Scooby-Doo Team-Up was really fun—I definitely got that sweet, animated Scooby-Doo or Batman series vibe to it. Both picks!
He's so EXTRA.
I love it.

The last two weeks have been pretty much either working or studying and absolutely no time for reading so today was a nice change when I finally had time to read this Batman graphic novel! It's considered one of the "must -reads" and rightful so, because it is a very good origin story for bothering Batman and Jim Gordon.
Looking forward to getting some more Batman stories.
#bookmail some comics I've been meaning to check out in a while! Batman: year one, the first volume of Powers and the first volume of Gotham Central!
They all look great! Wish I didn't have to study some articles for work or I'd be reading them already!
Well, I've had my first experience of reading a graphic novel on a kindle fire, and it was great! You can double tap on each cell, and it will stand out and enlarge! And that's the kind of thing that impresses me!😆 Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed the story itself - this isn't my first Batman comic - and the artwork and 'graphic' violence is always good!
🌟🌟🌟Better than The Dark Knight Returns, but still over hyped.
What makes a man put on a costume with a bat motif? What makes an idealistic cop come to one of the most corrupt cities on the planet?
The lives of Bruce Wayne and Jim Gordon will intersect as they try to come to grips with a city and role that is alien to them, fighting them as they try to save it. This is the start of one of most enduring partnerships in comic book history with great story and art.
This is the first Batman comic I have ever read. I really enjoyed the story and now look forward to reading more Batman in the future.
