Green River Killer
Green River Killer | Jeff Jensen

The story of one of America's most notorious killers is revealed in this true-crime comic unlike any other! Throughout the 1980s, the highest priority of Seattle-area police was the apprehension of the Green River Killer, the man responsible for the murders of dozens of women. In 1990, with the body count numbering at least forty-eight, the case was put in the hands of a single detective, Tom Jensen. After twenty years, when the killer was finally captured with the help of DNA technology, Jensen spent 180 days interviewing Gary Leon Ridgway in an effort to learn his most closely held secrets-an epic confrontation with evil that proved as disturbing and surreal as can be imagined. Written by Jensen's own son, acclaimed entertainment writer Jeff Jensen, Green River Killer: A True Detective Story presents the ultimate insider's account of America's most prolific serial killer. * Combines a historic manhunt with a compelling family story! * Written by Entertainment Weekly's Jeff Jensen! * The ultimate true crime graphic novel! * For fans of From Hell and Torso.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Written by the journalist son of Detective Tom Jensen, this graphic novelization of the Green River Killer case, and his father‘s part, is a bit of an odd endeavor, but thoughtfully created. Out of print, purchase second-hand, and well worth the $30. This completed my brief deep dive into this case (enneagram 5 #iykyk). Fuck you, Gary Ridgway.

vivastory I almost picked up that B&N tote the other day. Glad you liked this one 8mo
britt_brooke @vivastory I bought it at our B&N on its last days in business. 😩 But it‘s my new favorite bag! 8mo

A true crime graphic novel about the dogged detective who helped bring justice for the victims of the Green River Killer. Gary Ridgway was found guilty of murdering 49 women in the Seattle area in the 80s-90s. He‘s the second most prolific known serial killer in America. Though these crimes feature in the graphic novel, the focus is on the author‘s father, the detective in the case. On #hoopla—a good read during even MORE indoor soccer training.

I've heard the name Green River Killer, but didn't know anything about it besides it being killings around Seattle in the 80s.
He had such a huge body count and gave no satisfactory reason as to why 😔
I liked this sorta behind the scenes account. Really cool that the author's dad was the lead detective on the case. I'm really glad this ended on a high, personal note from the author because just, ugh.

I am new to the graphic memoir party and I am loving it. My hat is off to Tom Jensen who stuck with this case for over 20 years to see justice served. His compassion for the victims and their families really comes through on the page as does the admiration of his son who wrote this book.

I did 22 bags of mulch this morning and some weeding. How is it that my dog is the one worn out? Guess we‘ll just have to snuggle with a new graphic novel. #DogsofLitsy

Wow, this was excellent. This graphic novel follows the story of the investigation and capture of the Green River Killer. Written by the son of one of he lead detectives on the case it is an insightful look at the lengths the task force had to go to in order to make their case. True crime fans should enjoy this

This book really grew on me. At first I didn't like the focus on the suspected killer, as it felt like it glorified him at the expense of his victims. But as the story turned to focus on the detective, I was much more interested.

thanks for the recommendation @well.read.panda !

Now I can check off #TrueCrime on my reading challenges!

UrsulaMonarch I really liked the ending and hadn't realized the author was the detective's son! 7y

Whoo! What a read! Tough subject matter, but at it's core, is a love letter from a son to his dad. Still, is about a serial killer, and a really depraved one, so trigger warnings abound. For my all #comics and #graphicnovel #LitsyReadingChallenge bingo card: "A true crime story"

Recommended for true crime fans, but also a surprisingly beautiful meditation on one man's relationships to work and to the concept of justice. Jensen's father is the protagonist of this story as the detective who put the Green River Killer away. As a result, the book is also about fathers and sons.

Simsian I've heard such great things about this book, particular because of Detective Jensen's phenomenal work on the case. I've only just started to be interested in true crime again after falling away because of sensational stories glorifying terrible acts. This might bring me around. 9y
brenna @Simsian I can at least promise you there's nothing sensationalized in this reselling. 9y
