Amy Harmon never disappoints. This one started out a bit slow for me but it could have been my head space at that moment because it picked up quickly and I was hooked. I loved the ending.

I have yet to be disappointed by an Amy Harmon historical fiction. She is also so good at writing realistic, but swoony romance, that has the perfect amount of steaminess without verging into smut. This historical romance follows musician Eva, an Italian Jew, and her childhood friend, Catholic priest Angelo, as they fall in love, survive, and resist fascism amidst the Mussolini regime and Nazi occupation before and during WW2.
Book friends are the best friends - we connected because of a love for Amy Harmon books and have journeyed together since then! Love these ladies!
Samantha: thank you for the box of goodies! The timing is perfect for the fluffy socks as we are going to dip into the 20s this weekend. I don‘t own a pair quite so fluffy so I‘ll be using them tomorrow night! Thank you for the calendar, bookmarks, and phone grip, but especially the books. That‘s why I loved this swap because it matches our favorite genres—I can‘t wait to read books you‘ve loved. Thanks again!! #bestof2021swap
Training for two new jobs, while working two other jobs. Having a few hours to read is much needed.
⭐️⭐️⭐️💫Set in Italy, Harmon‘s book highlights the Catholic Church‘s involvement in protecting Jewish people during WWII.
This is an emotional story that focuses more on the relationship between the main characters than details of the war itself, but the ending didn‘t have the emotional “punch” I was anticipating.
A good, easy to read book and one I would definitely recommend, but not the best WWII fiction out there.
This was a wonderful book, I must admit I knew nothing of what happened to Jews in Italy during WWII. I don‘t usually enjoy love stories much but this has a lovely story running through it. Some very sad moments also but beautifully written

I‘m so close to finishing this one and I don‘t want it to end! It‘s been such a great book to escape into and with how hard it‘s been to read lately, I‘m dreading picking up a new book
This book is dragging. I kept falling asleep in the middle of this book. Maybe I‘m exhausted. It doesn‘t normally take me more than two days to finish a book at the most.😳
Can‘t stop reading this book!!! So good! 50 more pages to go! 👍🏻
I loved this story about an Italian Jewish family during WWII and how the Catholic Church saved 100s of jews.
What a good book! World War II when Germans occupied Italy, a heart breaking time period but such a heart warming, miraculous love story. Wow ❤️
Just when I thought I would never want to read another book set around World War II, I find this gem. It never ceases to amaze me how one event spawned so many interesting stories. This book is about Catholics who hid Jews from the Nazis when they occupied Italy. There is also a secondary storyline of unrequited love that is very well done. All in all, I would say this is a great piece of historical fiction.
Such a good book.
I wanted my book club to pick this book for next month's read. But, alas, they didn't. So, I am reading it on my own. It's supposed to be exceptional. Lots of good ratings on Goodreads and Amazon.
Opened this at midnight but lighting wasn't great. So many great goodies from the small book bag (perfect for going to read at Starbucks or any coffee shop or just to read outside) to the pen to the nesting dolls reading tabs to the bookmarks to the wonderful books that from @Melissa_J choose for me. Thank you so much. #summersolsticebookexchange #summersantagoespostal
Love, love, loved it. Generated great discussion at our bookclub. So may books on WWII to read but this one provided a different perspective for me, in particular around the impact it had on Italy. I thought it was well balanced between fact and fiction
I had a bit of trouble getting into this book at first. I found it a bit slow to start out, but it eventually picked up and turned into a heartbreaking love story during WW2 in Italy. I really liked how the author wove actual events and people into the fictional tale. Definitely another must-read from Amy Harmon! #LitsyAtoZ #LetterF #LitsyReadingChallenge #LRC13
Amazing! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I have read very little about Italy during WWII so reading about how the Catholic Church helped protect and hide the Italian Jews was thought provoking and inspiring. The story of Eva and Angelo was beautiful and heartbreaking and insightful all at once. This is definitely going on my list of favorites and everyone should read this book! ❤️

☕️ Coffee is made and I'm starting off my #LitsyPartyofOne with this beauty from the February #onceuponabookclub box which I haven't gotten to yet. I get a couple of hours to party this afternoon before my husband takes me out on a date tonight. 😊
This one was good! I'm a sucker for historical fiction. And for love ❤️ stories. So this was a double-whammy for me. I got it in my #OnceUponaBookClubBox subscription box. I'm probably going to cancel after the boxes I have already paid for. I really like the concept of opening "gifts" as I read, but I'm just not impressed with them. I'm glad I tried it out though.
4.5 / 5 - From Sand and Ash is a very inspiring and powerful read. A story of love, faith and goodness in mankind. This is definitely a must-read. Full review : http://kath-reads.com/2017/03/book-review-from-sand-and-ash/
Plain and simple: I loved this book. Michelle wasn't lying when she said it was one of the best books of 2016. I literally couldn't put it down. It's the kind of book that makes you think about what everyone went through during WWII and it's such a page turner.

"She vowed to push back, to make glass from ashes and that courage was a victory in itself."
My Once Upon A Book Club box came!! Ive loved the book each month! This book looks interesting and i cant wait to see the gifts!!
This book is full of beauty and tragedy. It follows two people in love and the conflict and consequences of everyone's choices. It portrays the best of worst sides of human nature. Mostly it focuses on the lengths people will go to help each other. My heart hasn't felt so much in awhile. From Sand and Ash is an epic love story that will restore your faith in humanity. #AmyHarmon #FromSandAndAsh https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1831839453
I am fascinated by the WWII and enjoy (if that's the right word!) historical fiction books centred around this time period. This one is based in Italy and shows the atrocities that happened. There were a few coincidences that were a bit hard to believe but I'll forgive the author of these as it was a good read and generally well representative of the time period.
Going to dive into this one today. I love Amy Harmon and have been looking forward to this.
FROM SAND AND ASH by Amy Harmon - another fabulous book!!
