Steamborn
Steamborn: The Complete Trilogy Box Set | Eric R. Asher
5 posts | 4 read | 1 reading | 6 to read
This collected edition includes Steamborn, Steamforged, and Steamsworn! Jacob, a tinker's apprentice and sometime thief, has lived his entire life in the mountain city of Ancora, protected by the city walls. These towering barriers keep the Deadlands creatures at bay, but the monsters move higher into the peaks every year. More and more, they breach the defenses of the Lowlands while the Highlands rest easy. A swarm overruns the walls and wreaks utter devastation on the Lowlands. Charles, the old tinker, suspects the attack may not be natural. With help from Jacob's closest friend, Alice, and Samuel, one of the city's elite spider knights, Jacob and Charles will uncover a terrible darkness at the heart of their city.

I would describe this as retro- post apocalyptic. It‘s got adventure, mystery, steampunk gadgets, AND giant bugs! One of the best stories I‘ve read in a long time (this is a trilogy) I hope he writes a sequel to it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Apparently Audible doesn't have Invasion of the Tearling, so I'm starting Steamborn. I got it in a sale a few months back and it came with all three.

kylienoele I LOVE that mug!! 7y
Lost_Boi Thanks. Me and my Partner have matching ones. Our relationship parallels well with Troy and Abed. 😁 7y

My stats for March! I only managed a few actual books this month and the rest was all manga and graphic novels. I've been in a reading slump so manga has been my go to this year.

I really enjoyed the amount of detail on the mechanics of things - not everything in 'steampunk' can actually be steam-powered after all; sometimes it is springs, or gears. That was pretty neat.

The pace of things felt a little weird - wasn't sure why it wasn't until they did that anyone tried to clean up the mess. But, overall, easy to read story.
