My daughter got a hankering to hear this again, so my husband has been reading it aloud to us. Tonight, daughter was taking frequent time-outs to check her dating app. I find this hilarious on several levels. 😂

Found this one at my little free library and just started reading it. It has a sweet grandma's inscription in the front cover. I've been feeling a pull to read young kids' literature.
pickFinally, an orphan who is wanted by 2sets of family members with different styles of raising children. Elizabeth Ann goes from being coddled to learning Independence with chores. And guess what? She thrives with chores and decision making. The author was a supporter of the Montessori method and you could see evidence in the book. I really enjoyed watching Betsy become brave and strong.

pickI missed this gem of a book from 1917 during my childhood. It's never to late to enjoy this sweet classic. This is a true delight! I picked it up thanks to The Mother Daughter Book Club series. #readwomen #recommendedbyabook
This middle grade book was one of my faves as a kid. What really sold it for me was the fact that it was probably one of the first instances in a book that an adult actually listened to a child (and yes it was a very small instance, but it was enough for me) and I loved reading about Betsy's progression through the book. #funfridayphoto

pickThis was a random pick for "books about Vermont". The setting wasn't terribly important to the plot, however. This was originally published in 1916 but it remains fairly fresh. The historical details--and the even further back historical details the author mentions--are quite interesting.
