This series has some fantastic books in it but the early books are not as great. Suffers from the same clunky translation as the first but fewer instances. Too many people secretly following too many people and I knew who the villains were instantly. The Da-Vinci-Code plot became tedious. Love the main characters though, who are the author‘s real ancestors. The Kuisl family keeps me in. #germany #mystery #augustisatrip
You know you're slightly obsessed with Harry Potter when you mistake this title for a book called 'The Dark Mark' & immediately think 'wait, someone wrote a book on the Dark Mark and I didn't know about it?!' 🤣
Compared to the first book in the Hangman‘s Daughter Series, I have to admit being a little disappointed in this one. Overall it was a good story involving Templar‘s Treasure (how could you go wrong with this theme) but I felt this book was a little too long winded & struggled to maintain my interest at times. This may have been because I listened to the story, it might have been better if I read the book. Will try one more as a physical read.
Started listening to the second book in The Hangman‘s Daughter Series by Oliver Pötzsch which is set in 1660s Bavaria. I did enjoy the first one a couple of years ago and will be keen to see how it is taken on with this one. Good for people who like Historical Mysteries.
All done! It‘s a historical fiction/ murder mystery set in Bavaria in 1660. The Templar aspect is not like a Dan Brown Templar novel, which I appreciated it. I‘m not too sure if Mr. Pötzsch knows how to write women well. #mystery #historicalfiction #bavaria

Love mysteries AND historical fiction?? Seriously look no further. The Hangman's Daughter series is one of my favorite historical fiction books! Totally recommend, especially because I found them by accident!

Part of my book haul from the amazing Half Price Books in Houston near NASA. I overheard the buyer tell a patron to take better care of her books and he would pay her more. He was very nice to her. But his message was clear: the store wants nice books and you can tell by its stellar selection. So many fine books in excellent condition.
Top three were bought from my favorite bookstore, Jackson Street Booksellers. Bottom three are from my public library. One collection of short stories, one too read, two nonfiction, one monk mystery story, and one "oh what the hell why not". #library #april #international
While I do enjoy the series the ending fell a bit flat for me, though there was a twist or two I didn't see coming. I have to confess I may have had to speed read through the last chapter as a certain little someone was wanting attention.
Finished this yesterday...they have so much potential, not sure why these books are missing the mark for me???
My next book about forensics in mid 1600s Bavaria. Can't wait!
