I need background info. For example the author writes about rickets, as a medical and dietary issue affecting German speaking troops. Then he goes on to scurvy. Did scurvy affect German militaries in the 1500‘s? Were there boats full of German soldiers so long they got scurvy? During a Crusade? In colonizing attempts? Don‘t make me guess! Don‘t make me research!!!!

In 1659 Bavaria children are being killed, found with a mysterious sign on their bodies. Could the local midwife also be a witch?

It took me a long time to get through this as I found myself unable to concentrate on it for more than few pages at time. I will probably continue with the series but not for now.

monkeygirlsmama It sounds good. 10mo

I‘ve enjoyed other books in this series, but this one just didn‘t hold my attention so back to the library it goes!

what in starting #2023 with.

im not too sure about the top hook, Cities That Shaped the Ancient World. Was hoping each city to have ~15 pages.. some of them have less info than whats on wikipedia.

the werewolf of bamberg is the 5th book in the hangman‘s daughter series. I‘m hoping this year to wrap up series I started over the year.

Hard to say much of anything about this book. I am surprised it won awards. The ending wasn‘t shocking but I didn‘t guess it either. I am not sure I liked the style of the writing either. The cover and description are better than the actual book. If you are looking for a quick mysterious read then this is a good book for that.

I really like this series and I feel like it gets better and better. The book switches points of view (though never first-person) quite often, but I like that it gives me the feel of all of these things happening, as different characters go about their business, at the same time. Of course, for suspense, it often cuts to a different character/scene just as something exciting is about to happen or happens
