This is really close between pick and so-so for me. It was a little slow going because I had a hard time forming a connection with the characters. I‘m not sure if it was them in particular or the writer‘s tone. But I did find the premise intriguing and it made me think about habits, choices and my own outlook on life. Especially now. “Maybe” I am a bit biased in reviewing this book because last year I made a birthday present for a dear friend which is quite similar to the Filofax entries in this book – but, and this is the important point, I did so _without_ knowing that I would encounter the idea in a book in general, or especially in this book.

I loved it. It‘s not always light, cosy entertainment. Yes, towards the end some “plot twists” are expectable, and yes, some events are simply unrealistic. (How long can one skip working in one‘s own business/start-up??)

But I liked the whole idea and how it was presented. Sometimes it‘s s bit cliché but it‘s also heartwarming and true.

Issues like death and age are dealt with authenticity and an eye for details.

I really like the wintertime sky outside my window. It‘s a nice grey.
And I make the best out of the day that I gave to myself as a present because I couldn‘t go to work today due to snow. I spend my hours reading. But nevertheless, I am really prepared for some summer. I am fed up with low temperatures and early darkness.

Sebastian Fitzek is well-known in Germany. He is author of many suspenseful books. Mostly thrillers and psychological thrillers.

I can‘t put down his books either. I‘m quite a fan and have seen him live during his readings. (Entertaining‼️)

So I was kind of happy when I read that in this book one of the characters will go to one of his readings. 😍

It‘s a cozy read – but not always. It‘s cute with overtones.

The plot begins in winter and there is a scene where the protagonist accidentally falls into the wastepaper bank because he looks for documents that have been thrown away accidentally. And in there, inside the wastepaper bank, he meets a homeless who regularly comes there to warm up.

Never thought about this before.
But it‘s heartbreaking 💔.

So far this is such a cute story. It consists of two plot lines. One is told in the present. It‘s about Jonathan, who is a bit a clumsy businessman still regretting that his ex-wife divorced, when on January 1st he finds a completely filled Filofax for the new year and tries to find out the real owner. The other plot line is told in the past about s child care worker who sets up on her own.

interesting to get to know when and how they will meet.

Why do this❓ ? Why do you choose a name that differs from the name given by your parents just to afterwards reveal your birth name and make obvious that you hid behind an imaged name. ?

By the way: I thought that this book was written by a native English speaker – but no, it‘s written by a native German speaking person.

Yes, I‘m guilty‼️ I no longer remember how and why the book went on my wish list but every time I pick my new read(s) my eyes 👀 are attracted by the cover. 😊

Selten habe ich so lange für ein Buch gebraucht...das Ende war gut, aber es war schwierig in das Buch reinzukommen.
