River Cottage Veg Every Day!
River Cottage Veg Every Day! | Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall
6 posts | 3 read | 3 to read
Winner of Best Cookbook at the Observer Food Monthly Awards Why don't we eat more veg? They're healthy, cost-effective and, above all, delicious. Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall believes that it is time to put this to rights, as he explains in this brilliant new book. He's come up with an abundance of veg-tastic recipes, including a warm salad of grilled courgettes, lemon, garlic, mint and mozzarella, a winter giant couscous salad with herbs and walnuts, radishes with butter and salt, lemony guacamole, linguine with mint and almond pesto and cherry tomatoes, baby carrot risotto, new potato gnocchi, a summer stir-fry with green veg, ginger, garlic and sesame, a winter stir-fry with Brussels sprouts, shiitake mushrooms and five-spice, a cheesy tomato tart, a spring onion gallette, roast jacket chips with merguez spices and spiced yoghurt, curried bubble and squeak, scrambled eggs and asparagus with lemon, tomato gazpacho, pea and parsley soup, roast squash wedges, baba ganoush, beetroot houmous, spinach pasties and barbecued corn on the cob. With over 200 recipes and vibrant photography from Simon Wheeler, River Cottage Veg Every Day is a timely eulogy to the glorious green stuff.

#wondrouswednesday @Eggs

1) believability and editing - honestly, a fiction, no matter what genre, should have a believable plot and characters, and good editing. I find the tiniest inconsistencies and inaccuracies in books and they annoy me. I've bailed on books for their stupid mistakes, no matter how endearing the characters were.
2) mugs, bookmarks, fountain pens,...
3) not really, but I like the tagged
4) RL Stevenson
5) @youneverarrived

Eggs #1–the annoyances can interrupt your engagement in the story 🙁 I can totally relate 6y

Changed the recipe on page 44 - I had cauliflower, peas and carrots in the freezer and feta cheese instead of cheddar. I hope it works out. 15 more minutes.
Just now realised, I should have cut back the edge of the pastry. Oh well.

The audiobook I'm listening to is Sophie Kinsella's Surprise me.

hilded That looks jummy #foodenvy 👏🏻 6y
Lauram That‘s the cleanest oven I‘ve ever seen. 6y

@miralunasbooknook

Here's my version of the salad.

I used yellow beans, made a pesto from roasted cashews, almonds, rocket and some olive oil (my rocket seems to have exploded, I could feed an army), and I added a bit of cheese.

tammysue Looks delicious! 7y

@miralunasbooknook - since I just had a few pictures from the book at hand...

laurieluna My partner has a peanut allergy but the fennel rocket and lemon pasta sounds delicious! 😌 7y
julesG @miralunasbooknook - made the salad in the bottom picture yesterday. Added my own twist to it. Delicious. 7y
julesG @miralunasbooknook Cashews work as well. I used cashews and almonds. I never have peanuts at home. 7y

The best way to save our beautiful planet is to eat less meat and dairy. This is my favorite vegetarian cookbook. It has lot‘s of yummy, easy plant based recipes, thanks to this book we have cut our meat intake by about 80% #eightdaysaweek #heyjune

My husband does the cooking in our house. His dad got him this for Christmas and I'm still working on getting him to cook the kale and onion pizza.

MrBook #NoTotsNotACookbook!!! 😂👏🏻 8y
arlenefinnigan @MrBook what even are these tots that you speak of? Are they an American thing?😉 8y
MrBook @arlenefinnigan 😆😁👏🏻 Yep. They're little barrel-shaped bit of sliced & diced potatoes that get fried to a crunchy goodness. Best with salt and ketchup. Check out my previous #MrBookBookBabeKitchen posts 😊 8y
