Sometimes you have to play love by ear.Love Lessons, Book 2Aaron Seavers is a pathetic mess, and he knows it. He lives in terror of incurring his fathers wrath and disappointing his mother, and he cant stop dithering about where to go to collegewith fall term only weeks away.Ditched by a friend at a miserable summer farewell party, all he can do is get drunk in the laundry room and regret he was ever born. Until a geeky-cute classmate lifts his spirits, leaving him confident of two things: his sexual orientation, and where hes headed to school.Giles Mulder cant wait to get the hell out of Oak Grove, Minnesota, and off to college, where he plans to play his violin and figure out what he wants to be when he grows up. But when Aaron appears on campus, memories of hometown hazing threaten what hed hoped would be his haven. As the semester wears on, their attraction crescendos from double-cautious to a rich, swelling chord. But if more than one set of controlling parents have their way, the music of their love could come to a shattering end.Warning: Contains showmances, bad parenting, Walter Lucas, and a cappella.

3.5/5 ⭐ Some parts dragged a bit with pacing & characters being uncommunicative. The climactic action, while probably in the realm of "this could realistically happen," seemed off to me in tone & weak when Cullinan is usually so deft at conflict resolution. But the high points were glorious, & I cried at least twice. Excited to read the 3rd book focusing on side characters who desperately need their Happily Ever After. #projectSAMS #catsoflitsy

"In fact we are your second home, forever, full stop. You need milk money, somewhere to wash your clothes? You come to me. You need clothes? Me. A hug, a smile, a night at the movies--me."

hissingpotatoes "Sometimes we need a place to be completely safe, somewhere boring that isn't about sex or adventure or wild hairs. I am that place for you. As long as you want it, for ten minutes or ten hours or ten thousand years: I am your safe place. No matter what happens, no matter who leaves you or hurts you. I am your safe place."

MORE TEARS. And thus does Walter give Randy a run for his money as my favorite Cullinan character.

"Baby, honey, hold on. We're almost there."
Aaron blinked. "You're almost where?"
"To Saint Timothy. We're merging onto 94 now. Give us another ten minutes."
"You're coming here?"
"Of course I'm coming there. Kelly too. Where are you? Where should I go to find you?"
The whole world peeled away, strange and hot and off-key. "But you can't come here. You're busy."
"Nothing right now is more important than you."

ACTUAL TEARS.

This is a sweet, hot, kind-hearted romance novel that reads like a queer Lifetime movie. The dramatic twists and turns may turn off some readers but the tone is consistant throughout, making the entire book a suspension of reality. Despite this, the author tackles intense and real issues with compassion and hope. I ended up devouring this book.

This book is one of the main reasons I love Heidi Cullinan's m/m romances. Her characters are the ultimate anti-alphas. They agonize. And sing accapella. Fall in love. #romantsy

EloisaJames I cannot figure out how to crop not in a square so the title of the book shows! 8y
Bookzombie I think if you crop in Litsy, it only does it in a square. I usually move it to get the title or I sometime crop pictures on my phone before I post on here. 🙂 8y
EloisaJames @Bookzombie ok it's not just my phone then--thanks! 8y
rubyslippersreads @EloisaJames I sometimes use an app called PicsArt which has an option for "square fit." That lets you put any picture on a square background to fit Litsy. ? 8y
Chachic Her books have been on my wishlist for a while! 8y

Maybe it's meant to be, and maybe it isn't , but you need to try. Go in there and be fabulous, whatever the outcome.
