I'm not sure anything I can say would do this book the justice it deserves. I'll just say it's heart-wrenching and devastating, yet utterly beautiful. I weeped on several occasions.

Actual water damage from tears - this book has destroyed me twice in an hour.
This book is a great one when you just need something positive and hopeful to read. Sincere, sweet and optimistic, this story - based on the life of a real man - shows you that thinking differently and being kind can make for a happy and purposeful life.
I liked this book a lot - a dirtier, political take on fantasy with a lot of strong women in it. The one thing I would say is that there are references to past Fallon series in this book that fly over your head if you haven't read them. Otherwise, I'm looking forward to the second in the trilogy.
I love Vonnegut but I found this novella quite boring. There were some very funny parts but mainly I thought the narrative was disappointing. As usual Vonnegut's wordplay is wonderful but it wasn't enough to keep my interested in this book.
Love how effortlessly natural Díaz's narrative sounds. It's in your face - sometime funny, sometimes brutal, but always honest.
Loved the telling of the friendship of two@young women in a very formative part of their lives. The Neapolitan Novela greatly portray the shift between solidarity, jealousy, joy and loyalty on female friendship. Can't wait to read the next one.
This is an easy read for a rainy weekend. I enjoyed it, but I disliked the narrator, which I can find quite frustrating at times, but then again it's a whodunnit - you're supposed to be frustrated!
Another fantastic Rushdie novel about the destructive power of the need for revenge. The characters are so wholly created and the beauty of Kashmir is truly captured, and then bam! He hits you with bloodshed and bitterness. Great novel.
This book was so much more than I was expecting. Come for the whimsy, stay for the slow-burning heartache. Both joyous and sorrowful on occasion, Ava Lavender just felt so pure, even in the largest moments of pure fantasy. A book about lost love and the inability to let go of emotional pain.
The Unbearable Lightness of Being is one of my favourite books, so I was really disappointed when I couldn't get into this. I just didn't know where this was headed and I really struggled to stay in it a couple different sections. I gave it 100 pages but I just couldn't keep going.
The use of voice in this book is absolutely incredible. The level of English, patois and jargon makes each character so distinct, and is a real accomplishment. Bravo, Mr James!
