This was a great fantasy read and I really enjoyed delving back into the world of the Harshini, Gods and demons.
Jennifer Fallon has long-time been an auto-buy author for her fantasy fiction.

Someone please explain to me why, when I have 135 book waiting for me to read at home (I counted this morning 😂), do I visit the library and select half a shelf worth of new books to read? When I got home, I half expected my owned TBR to have thrown themselves off my bookcases in protest...

JENNIFER FRACKING FALLON! TLT is set 10 years after the events in the Wolfblade/Hythrun Chronicles (2 trilogies connected) and finds all the major characters back in the thick of magic, politics, and mayhem. R'Shiel, the Demon Child has disappeared & suddenly all the music in Hythria vanished. When a foreign princess doesn't want to be caged & an assassin falls for her double, things get interesting!
Jennifer Fallon is one of those seminal Australian fantasy authors I've never quite got around to reading. Now that I've read THE LYRE THIEF, I'll definitely be going through her backlist. Set in the same world as a few of her previous series, it uses a few old characters and introduces a few others. Readers new to the world may have to work a little, but I found this reasonable and well worth the effort. Recommended for lovers of epic fantasy.
10/10 stars! It was so good. Politics, humor, romance, mystery, magic, adventure! You name it and its probably has it! Hands down a great read!
For the #Augustphotochallenge. This is one of my reading spots! #augustofpages
Hello bookish world! I'm new here! Just thought i'd drop in and say "Hi!" and introduce myself: Name's Lani and, as you can tell, I love books. As of right now I have 200+ books in my tbr pile and always looking for more! I love fantasy, historical fiction, middle grade fiction, Ya fiction, mystery, thriller, suspense (paranormal) and action adventure (like Indiana jones). My current read is: lyre thief! So good!
So it turns out this book is the first in a small series, but seventh in a bigger series, so I was weighed down by a ton of backstory I wasn't familiar with. I liked it enough to keep reading in spite of that. I guess I can't resist a princess swapping places with her maid.
I liked this book a lot - a dirtier, political take on fantasy with a lot of strong women in it. The one thing I would say is that there are references to past Fallon series in this book that fly over your head if you haven't read them. Otherwise, I'm looking forward to the second in the trilogy.
