THIS IS SO GOOD!!! Man that book had me so tightly in its grip that I had totally not realized that I had to get off the train if not a man had dragged me out of it, because Kyoto is the last stop and so everyone has to get out, but I was glued to the pages 🙈 Holy smokes, that was a first for me!

With each chapter the story is getting more and more complex and I'm glad I reread volume 1 before starting volume 2. The artwork is still beyond amazing and keeps distracting me with its gorgeousness, to be honest. Well, one more good reason to go over the pages again and again...

Awww, I'm so happy about the reference to The Watchmaker of Filigree Street!! ♥️ Makes me want to reread it now 😄

Really enjoying it so far, but the only thing that keeps bugging me a little is the first person narration. Can't figure out why though 🤔

This book is brilliant. Never before was I aware of how easily and instantly I categorize characters into 'good' and 'bad', because in this work those categories are constantly being thrown over, through adding layers which are often overlooked or not reflected. Hearn is an amazing storyteller and she obviously researched a LOT about medieval Japan and it's mythical folklore.
Honestly I didn't expect to be so taken with this book!

This map follows a five page long list of characters 😆 I'm so intimidated by long lists of characters, because it makes me fear i might not be able to keep up with them 🙈 Well, looking forward to my new read for the commute!

This was just wonderful! Wonderfully written, incredibly atmospheric and Pulley obviously did her research well. It was hard to put down and if you will excuse me, I need to order the Bedlam Stacks now...

I've been thinking about #5fordinner but to be honest, I wouldn't want to have dinner with any authors I read. For some reason I want there to be a distance between them and me. It's their books, the result of their hard work, which counts for me and their books make things possible that mostly aren't in real life. But I want the illusion and by getting to know the author I'd feel as if the mystery would vanish.

It was an overall very underwhelming read for me, although the story and characters held a great potential. The language was somewhat dull and the characters development was poor and shallow. I wonder how much that is due to the translation though... what a pity, it could've been really awesome!

The story is interesting enough so far to keep me going, but I really wish it was better written/translated. The language is a bit dull and descriptions of characters as well as the world in which this happens fall rather flat...

#SomeoneElseReading was a really tough one! I almost gave up and then thought that at least one of my graphic novels should show someone reading and TA DA! Here is Lir reading one of his poems to Molly.
The artwork is overall beautiful, but I have to say that it's almost too beautiful. Sometimes I felt like getting a sugar shock from all the beauty and sweetness. But then the right day came and I could finish it in one sitting 😅#FallintoBooks

Without stretching the interpretation for an #OccupationInTitle too much I've got only two books to suit this tag, one of them my current read, but both are set in the Middle Ages. One in France, one in England. Both filled with words that show a deep understanding of humankind. Is there a better reason to #Fallintobooks ?

Page 24 and I already bonded with Sarah. This book begins where other stories would end and is told with an amazing voice!

Swallows always catch my eye, I love them so much and this book starts incredibly promising:
"I had always wanted to be a jongleur, to leap from the shoulders of another, to fly and tumble, to dare myself in thin air with nothing but my arms and legs to land me safely on the ground. An acrobat is not a bird, but it is the closest a person can come to being free in the air. The nearest to an angel's gift of flying."
Will be my new commute read.

Wikipedia says: "Cursive, is any style of penmanship in which some characters are written joined together in a flowing manner, generally for the purpose of making writing faster."
So this letter suits the definition ? I almost cant believe that I seriously don't own a single book with the title written in #cursive – sorry, but just slightly bent doesn't count here for me! #FallintoBooks

This book made me realize a lot of interesting things, such as my favoritism for tales of friendship and strong females, people taking their life in their own hands and being truly the ones making decisions. I also learnt that sci-fi is not my cup of tea and that I can't make myself read horror at all 🙈
So many feels in this most wonderful book, a must-read I think!

Finally I'm done with it! Really not my kind of book. It's extremely quiet and monotonous, there's no world in which this seems to happen, although it's supposed to be in England, late 90s. I didn't connect with it at all and merely kept going because I was hoping for a big revelation, just to be disappointed.

Luckily I got reminded that it's time for another #litsypartyofone 😊This morning none of the books I'm currently reading appealed to me, so I looked through my shelves and immediately picked this gem. Every time I reread it, I'm left heavily bookhungover and it suits my mood perfectly right now.
Finally summer is over and autumn has come!

Holy cow, Jeffrey Ford is one hell of a creative writer to come up with this description of a bar 😆 Couldn't help to laugh out loud, you totally won't see it coming!! Besides it's not the kind of stuff I expected in a rewritten fairy tale and yet that's precisely one of the reasons I'm enjoying this book so much.

Gold edges anyone? This book really deserves them, so I tried coloring the edges again using watercolor, since that worked perfectly last time. After coloring and letting it dry the edges were perfectly smooth and shiny, until I opened it and then the gold started to come off. At first I was not happy, but then I brushed off all the excess and now I think that this faded effect suits the book so much more! ♥️

Current read on my commute to/from work. What really puts me off so far is that I can't feel England at all in this book, but I also can't hold that against Ishiguro because that is obviously not his focus. It took an entire third until finally some sort of punch was delivered, which makes me want to continue reading and I still have hope for a big revelation. @I-read-and-eat You were right though, it's already a lot better than The Buried Giant!

My image of the red and white queens had admittedly been formed by the Hollywood movies and oh my are they off base!! The queens in the books are completely different, it makes me wonder where they took the ideas for the movies from o.O I'm just so glad I read the books now, Carroll was an excellent writer!

There are so many passages I want to highlight, but I don't, because I don't want to spoil my beautiful #folio edition 🙈 And I really don't like to use sticky notes in books...

How I wish I had read Alice's Adventures in Wonderland earlier! Carroll came up with some witty wordplays and I'm thoroughly enjoying his work.

Finally another #FolioSociety edition to add to my collection, which in all honesty is still tiny but will gradually grow, I'm so in love with #illustrated books ♥️
Besides now I'll finally get to read this classic for the first time, as I have to say. Thanks to Litsy I'm no longer ashamed to admit to all the classics I haven't read yet. Looking forward to start this once I finished The Starlit Wood.

Yesterday I started this beautiful book with fairy tale retellings and will read one every evening before going to bed. Some amazing authors contributed to this collection and each chapter begins with a lovely illustrated initial. Looking through them I realized that most stories begin with "T". The binding is quite unique, feels almost like velvet and is slightly embossed, I love just to hold it in my hands.

It took me a bit to get into it, because the world building at the very beginning seems a little too forced and the exotic names too artificially constructed, yet after two thirds I feared to experience a bookhungover of the worst kind. Instead I was given a cliffhanger of the worst kind and if there's one thing I truly despise it's cliffhangers.

I love it when the book edges are colored and while I was messing around with watercolors yesterday and looked at my lovely Puffin edition of the Secret Garden I had the idea to try doing it myself 😊The result turned out lovely I think and now I have some more books in mind to give more color to!

One of the interesting aspects of rereading a book after about a decade is that you're able to appreciate entirely different facets than before and thus add new depths to a book.
