Projekt 1065 | Alan Gratz

"No matter who created these things, we must defend them against the culture destroyers, yes? For what do culture destroyers do? They burn books. They ban music. They rip great art from museum walls. They refuse to teach literature, music, art to their children. They are monsters." pg104

My son told me I should read this. He loves all books WWII related, but this author is 1 of his favorites so far. It was an easy read and darn thing made me cry.

JillsBookshelf I love Alan Gratz‘s books as well! If he hasn‘t read them already I would recommend Allies and Refugee. Allies is about D day and Refugee features different characters from different time periods, but one character is trying to escape Germany in 1938. Happy reading! 😃 📖 4y

"Wasn't I Real before?" asked the little Rabbit.

Such a sweet story. I don't remember crying when I read it as a child. As we read it this evening my 13 yr old says we cry because it's so heartwarming. Then we thought about his dog dog, and how he is Real.

It is finished and tomorrow we will watch the last movie to complete our journey. This was our bedtime book for the past month. We slowly made our way through the story, stopping to watch the movies (and argue) along the way. All 3 (ages:13, 10, & 7)loved the book, but it was my youngest who made my heart melt when he said "I will have to read it to my kids. And he would come get my copy and I can join their journey through The Hobbit."

TobeyTheScavengerMonk Reading this to my kiddo is such a special thing as well. 4y

I laughed, cried, quoted this book to my husband and yelled - see I am not crazy! OMG that is so true. Who know that a bunch of other women feel the same way I do.

"The graves of the Clutter family, four graves gathered under a single gray stone, lie in a far corner of the cemetery—beyond the trees, out in the sun, almost at the wheat field‘s bright edge."

It has been a long time since I read a book that I couldn't put down and stayed up way too late just to reach the end.
