“The world, not China alone, has a problem with surveillance.”

“Kiss Aziza for me," she said. "Tell her she is the noor of my eyes and the sultan of my heart. Will you do that for me?”
I love poems that make me feel something, there were definitely some of those poems in this book.
Sigh 😪, I really wanted to like this one but alas here we are. The route that the author took with the characters really annoyed me. Suddenly Tamlin is the worst person of all Prythian and Rhysand is our lord and savior 🙄🙄 it felt so forced, and unlikable. This book was also way too long, I had to power through the 600 pages and almost DNF. May be an unpopular opinion, but I liked the first book better 🤪
All the growling and the purring really made me cringe. But once I got over that I enjoyed the book, for the most part 🤪
“Never let anyone make you feel ordinary.”
“It hurts to want it all, so many things that can‘t coexist within the same life.”
“All the things that make you different, make you perfect.”
“We're all crazy, I believe, just in different ways.”
“On behalf of Death-Cast, we are sorry to lose you. Live this day to the fullest.”
“ i hope you know that you are loved. I hope things get simpler for you, peaceful. Spend your days with easy breaths and soft words. You deserve light through your windsill. I hope it comes your way soon.”
“Daughter. Spend your life Loving. Not seeking Love. Ocean need not seek water.” One of the best books I‘ve read. Ever.
“Persistence only proves persistence — it does not prove love.”
“Nevertheless.”
“And so, I‘m also afraid of women. I‘m afraid of women who‘ve either emboldened or defended the men who have harmed me, or have watched in silence.”
“It is my sincere hope that this book-Aaron‘s truth-will be a source of motivation, one that propels others to appreciate life‘s blessings, to seek help during difficult times, and to work on finding inner-happiness.”
“What is real, what is forever, is who you are and what you are meant to share with the world.”
“People say all the time that they‘d do anything for the people they love. But would you really? Would you do anything? Would you give everything? I don‘t know that a child knows that kind of selfless love. A mother, yes. A mother will clutch her children and jump from a moving car to keep them from harm. She will do it without thinking. But I don‘t think the child knows how to do that, not instinctively. It‘s something the child has to learn.”
“The king‘s a beggar, now the play is done: All is well ended...”
“There‘s no way to know the exact second your life changes forever.” “I forgive because not to forgive would only hurt me.”
“But eventually I learned that we receive from the world what we give to the world.”
A life changing read.
“One of the effects of being crazily, obsessively in love is that it dulls your senses, your capacity for perception, till you no longer notice what is happening around you. It causes you to focus your attention so much on a single person that it isolates you from the rest of the universe, imprisons you inside a shell, and keeps you at a distance from other realities, even those right in front of you. “
“It‘s not how long you live; it‘s what you leave behind.”
Penny thought of this Korean saying for when you really, really liked something. You‘d say it “fit your heart exactly.”
Love yourself. You are a badass.
“Frankly, our ancestors don‘t seem much to brag about. I mean, look at the state they left us in, with the wars and the broken planet. Clearly, they didn‘t care about what would happen to the people who came after them.”
