I‘m only 20 min in and already this is speaking to me more than most things, including those that are essentially saying the same thing but from a spiritual high horse 😂😆😎
I wish I had read this sooner... aside from the gorgeous prose, Hamid tells us a story that is actually more realistic despite the magical realism. Instead of the typical “love conquers all”, he shows us the far more common story in an uncommon way. By far one of the best reads I‘ve had this year.

My first experience with Neil Gaiman; despite being extremely busy, I couldn‘t stop listening. I did the audiobook version and particularly loved the cast. There‘s a ton of detail and depth to this story - I‘d like to at some point read the text as I admittedly couldn‘t always keep up with each character besides Shadow. I‘ll be reading more of this author for sure.
Wait, I can‘t even believe I‘ve made it to 25/100 on this list... part of this is at least thanks to AP English literature in high school... most of the ones I have read may be the more low-hanging fruit on the list: Harry Potter, Gone Girl, 50 Shades, Twilight, but I‘ve also read some of the more literary ones such as A Prayer for Owen Meaney, The Grapes of Wrath, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, Jane Eyre, Catch-22, The Great Gatsby.
Almost done with this (audiobook version) - friends, I absolutely love this novel and wouldn‘t mind doing another one of Neil Gaiman‘s books. What do you suggest?! I‘m going to miss my walks with Shadow!
My parents just moved (again) and my mom found our copy of Cutting For Stone, one of my all-time favorite reads which will make its way to my tiny library in Boston with me next week!
Excellent rainy night reading and I honestly can‘t keep up with what will happen next... I‘m not a usual fan of mystery but Peter Swanson‘s book has my attention
