The Neverending Story | Michael Ende, Ralph Manheim

I raced through the first 3/4 of this delightful book and slogged through the last 1/4. It really did feel never ending for a bit! But I truly adored it! The movie is one of my childhood favorites. AAAARRRTAAAAXXXXXX!!! 😭😭😭

Our power went out for awhile this evening and I wanted something cozy to read. This was one of the most deeply beloved books of my childhood and damn, does it hold up!

BookishMarginalia I loved those too! 6y
Tamra Ok, so many Littens keep posting about this and I‘ve never read any in the series. This is not helping my (weak) resolve not to buy books. 🥴 6y

The Penderwicks at Last | Jeanne Birdsall

I‘ve been thinking so much about this series since I finished the last novel. The reason I love it so much is that, even though I read the series as an adult, it immediately takes me back to my happiest days as an 8 year old...quietly whiling away the hours in my cozy attic bedroom. It‘s “instant happy childhood memories” on the page.

Talk to me, people. Is the rest of this series as good as the first novel???

TrishB Very similar! So, yes. 6y

So I‘m about 75 pages in and not loving this one. Neither of the main characters are likable to me, and quite frankly, I find them boring. However, I‘ve heard nothing but rave reviews. Is there a big payoff at some point, or should I just ditch it?

My husband and I are buddy reading this book... he on audio and myself in paperback. When we try to talk about it, we can‘t understand one another because I pronounce the names and words differently in my brain than his audio narrator does 🤣

Soubhiville Oh! I hope you both love it!! I was so excited when my husband finally listened to these so we could discuss them! I read them the first time and audio‘d the second, but did notice a lot of different pronunciations than my brain made up ! 🤣 7y
