Another great read from Sonali Dev!
I hate to be a downer, but this book just didn‘t engage me on any level. With age lapse chapters from childhood through age 27, I wanted to feel sympathy for the heroine who had MAJOR health issues, but instead she felt spoiled, whiny and immature to me throughout. The hero, with issues of his own, was irritating and frustrating by not professing his woefully obvious love until 75% in. And the plot was slow with no surprises. Just not for me. 2⭐️
I hate to say it, but I‘m really struggling with this one. I‘m halfway through and not really connecting much with the two leads. And it has been really dragging in parts...😔😫😴
I‘m determined to finish though!
Set in India, looking forward to this one from a new author for me. 😊 Anyone read this one?
Sonali Dev's latest offering has me all 😍😍😍, and it's at least 40% down to the heroine. Kimi is WONDERFUL! She's exactly the sort of gutsy dreamer I want to read about on the regular.
I also got a big kick out of the dual timelines, which gave me my fill of (kinda obvious) contemporary DARK SECRETS interspersed with AWESOME FRIENDSHIP and PAST TRAGEDY.
Downsides: the pacing won't work for everyone, and narrator Neil Shah's a bit flat.
I finished my puzzle! It was super fun, even though the only reference photo was pretty durned small. #audiopuzzling
This puzzle's taking me foreverrrrrr, but it's fun and my audiobook's great so I don't mind. #audiopuzzling
I did a bit more of my Funko Pop puzzle while I listened to this week's Jay & Miles, then started A DISTANT HEART.
I loved the hell out of Sonali Dev's first book, but while her next two were still good they didn't grab me the same way. Fingers crossed this one's a winner. #audiopuzzling
I struggled with this one - it‘s one of those that can get pretty draggy with an over explosion of emotions that carries itself from the beginning to the end; and you‘ll find yourself asking - will this ever end? Don‘t get me wrong certain parts did had my eyes watery but I would have much prefer a better balance between the romance and suspense. Without that said Dev‘s writing is pure poetry!!
“It only made sense that losing a part of yourself would bring lightness”
~ be good to yourself, cause no one in the world deserves that more than you. With that, I‘m spending the afternoon with a decadent hair treatment. Happy Saturday, #littens!
Decided that I shall start on another read in the evening before bed, and resist being guilty over the exam prep that‘s awaiting for me. I may just dedicate March‘s evening read to #southasian narrative. Anyone in the #Litsyfamily keen to join me? 😉 #bollywoodlover
I‘m only going to buy one book, with my coupon, I told myself...

Oops, I think I should have read this after A Change in Heart... this flew by for me, it was a nice change of pace from Dev‘s other Bollywood focused romances.
Eating M&Ms in bed until 10:30 and then a #boutofbooks Twitter chat means only getting to my proper breakfast at noon. But every good party leads to lounging in bed later than normal, right? My #LitsyPartyofOne continues with the new Sonali Dev, I‘m excited to get started on it.
I really like Sonali Dev and have not been disappointed by a single book in this series. The first books may have been lighter but I think they keep getting better. Set in Mumbai this is the story of a friendship between two people from opposite sides of the tracks each with their own burdens. It also contains Indian mobsters, an organ trafficking ring, and other fun things that make the story refreshing. Glad I tried the audio version this time.
Five stars. Sonali took me on an emotional journey to Mumbai, in the past and in the present, with A Distant Heart. I lived in the chawl with Rahul, his Aie, and brother Mohit. I lived in The Mansion with Kimi and Kirit-sir. There were tears in my eyes, but laughter, too, and finally heartbreak, in spite of Rahul and Kimi‘s HFN.
I‘m not reading this yet, but I‘ve chosen A Distant Heart by @sonali.dev to be my first book of 2018 (and, man, it is going to be hard to wait until the first to start this one!)
