Holy shit this is amazing - "At first you're startled, probably hurt, but then you get a taste of your assaulter's meringue and realise you want to eat it every damn day."

I'm enjoying this series - and I adore Kleypas - but I'm so done with the swarthy alpha man and the heroine with ivory or porcelain skin. Is there something inherently more masculine about a tan? I'm also rather over the calloused male hands vs silky/satiny female skin. I get that contrast is interesting but it's significantly less so when so many books use the same set of contrasts. Hrmph. /end rant
Ridiculously campy, as any take on Much Ado About Nothing should be. I'll give this these five bees 😏
Very predictable and yet not at all what I expected. I love when books can surprise me and this did in a lovely way. I'm not sure I understand the appeal of a sequel, and I hated the last two or three sentences, but overall this was a delight. So so funny, a good ugly cry catharsis, and fab peripheral characters!
I haven't seen the film but this screen shot is an excellent depiction of the central relationship.
I'm thoroughly enjoying this - it's so much funnier than I anticipated!! I've been expecting this sweeping epic love story, thanks to the movie trailers - and this isn't to say that won't be coming up - but for now, 1/3 of the way in, it's hilarious even with the deeper feels. Hooray!
This is a difficult one to rate. Some of the most erotic scenes I've read but always with a disappointing finish in terms of character development. Plus there's a delicious build up of angst that just fizzles out into nothing. Hrmph overall.
It does advance me in the #bookisholympics tho - I've earned silver... Can I claim gold?

Added this to my TBR without reading the blurb, cuz @bookriot 100 historical romance novels list 😍 Imagine my delight that Will Scarlet of Merry Men fame is the male lead!! His tumultuous relationship with Meg is a fantastic portrayal of finding trust, allowing yourself to be vulnerable, and discovering love despite insecurities, pride, and past hurts. Plus lots of humour 🤗 #bookisholympics

Slow and sweet in the best possible way. Laugh out loud funny in parts with utterly delightful peripheral characters. The limpid cover photo doesn't do it justice! #bookisholympics

Using this as my palette cleanser between romances during the #bookisholympics and it's so hard to put down after each story!! Just finished "Heorot" and I LOVE the peek at Ms. Gard's true self. ?

Phenomenal sex scenes, super hot. The rest was just ok. It may not win me the "heat" in the #bookisholympics but at least advances me to the next round ?

Meh. Cute but mediocre entry in the romance #bookisholympics. Clearly this was the warm up before my first heat 😉

A mediocre entry in the romance #bookisholympics. I'll claim it as my warm up before the first real heat 😉

Such an eloquent description of the "better" self being thwarted. So excited to start this new-to-me Gillian Flynn!
Keeping the pic plain here because the book is so vivid! Absolutely phenomenal heroine. An unrefined duke who wants to bring chocolate to the masses (dawwww). There's an incredibly hot and sensual scene involving cocoa butter, need I say more?
It's the Hangover in the Victorian era! Did they or didn't they and btw - who are they really? Super fun!
I technically missed #recommendsday but I can't let a theme like #WomanCrushWednesday pass me by! I discovered Octavia Butler about two years ago and voraciously tore through her backlist. I adore her brand of speculative fiction and my favourite by far is Parable of the Sower. Sooooo good!!
This was an uncomfortable one for me to read. I'm ok with the moral ambiguity of adulterous affairs in historicals when there's no love lost between the married pair, but felt conflicted about Jayne loving her husband and falling for Ainsley. It's well written and worth the unease tho.
The plot, as they say, thickens! I'm not sure I can review this without spoilers so I'll just say this was super fun and I can't wait for the library hold to clear on book 9!!
Another fun ride with Harry Dresden :) This one almost had too many things going on but it managed the juggling.
For #FridayFunDay a book that has changed my life more than once. Found this older edition of the trilogy in a used book store and it makes my soul happy! I re-read this every couple of years and love me some Ged 💕
@Liberty
Holy wow this is the best psy-changeling yet! Now on to the Shield of Winter...
It's #Recommendsday and this was one of my favourites from last year. The movie's due out in September so now's a great time to pick this up! The trailer looks fabulous but don't watch it until you've read the book - the slow reveal is oh so worth it!!
Catching up on the Psy-Changelings in preparation for book 15!!
The joys of being fun-employed!
I had all these fantastically witty quotes lined up (my fave was a Music Man reference) but then he started talking about Bunche Hall and I couldn't stop giggling 🤗 Ah, fond memories of UCLA and that eyesore juxtaposed with the lovely sculpture garden!
While I really like Adrien as the bookseller / amateur sleuth, this one wasn't nearly as engaging as the first book. The mystery felt a bit flat, for all that the CA history was interesting, and I had a visceral need to punch Jake as I recoiled at his inner contradictions.
Can't wait to discover how this wraps up. I adore Tavi and Kittai to pieces!! (Hopefully my spelling isn't too dreadful - I've done these all on audio...) I love that the various side plots and the ensemble cast all move each book forward; none of them feel extraneous.
Delightful peripheral characters and super hot main pair. Strongly recommended for anyone curious about the bdsm life! Plus the hottest cover ever - it even ties in with the story 😍 Great handling of consent and the power of the safe word 👏
A delightful mystery with a soon-to-be-published mystery writer (and bookstore owner, swoon!) as the amateur sleuth. Loved the bits styled as "if this were a novel..." Plus an excellently satisfying conclusion :)
Discovering just how ignorant I was of Hamilton's origins and motivations. Loving the audiobook with breakfast :)
Getting pumped to start this acclaimed bio by listening to the Original Broadway Cast Recording. Woot!
