I'm not saying I didn't enjoy this 7th book in the series, but it was predictable in a lot of ways.

There once was a wizard who wrote a book that could be used to magic yourself into a god. Naturally all the bad people want this book. Also, ⬇️

#OminousOctober #Day22 #Dead This one is a Dresden Files book, a series about Harry Dresden, Chicagos only wizard PI. It‘s a great series, it‘s been awhile since I‘ve read them but I‘d love to do a reread some day soon! #Scarathlon #TeamSlaughter 6pts

🎧 Book 7 of the Dresden Files.

Ghosts, zombies, necromancy, dinosaurs, Mouse the dog, BOB kidnapped or I guess skullnapped, Thomas the vampire half-brother, Murphy on vacation in Hawaii with Kincaid, and horn dog chauvinistic Harry Dresden! W00T!

Harry‘s a temporary Warden?! 😮

This installment of the Dresden Files didn't quite feel like it hit the mark, particularly for about the first third of the book, but then picked up in the second half of the book.

I'm enjoying my journey with Harry and I am interested to see where things go after this book with the direction of the White Council.

These stories are always enjoyable. I won‘t spoil it, but in the last 40-50 pages I was smiling and saying “Hell yeah!” Harry is a bad ass wizard for sure. 😁👍 The predominant theme of this book was necromancy, which isn‘t my favorite magical topic (cuz dead people, ew), but this story was still very enjoyable.

Among my favorites of the series. Fantastic story with some memorable villains and action scenes. Again, Butcher ties it all up at the end with an exciting and rather whimsical confrontation. Love the tie-ins with real world Chicago.

This might be the best book in the Harry Dresden series I‘ve read, thus far. The world-building is really paying off, and Butcher does a good job keeping the reader up to speed despite being up to book seven. The misogyny is still an issue, but this book finally delivers a female character who‘s not reduced to eye candy and/or rescue bait (here‘s hoping future books don‘t ruin that).

When the twisted disciples of a dead necromancer come to Chicago for a major Halloween showdown Harry has to pull out the big guns. Aided (or hindered, depending on your view) by Butters, the only ME in Chicago to understand that there is some serious funny business going on. Harry also has to deal with a weakened White Council, the Wardens, and a serious jealous streak regarding Murphy.

My favorite novel in the Dresden Files series of books by Jim Butcher sees protagonist Harry Dresden faces off against necromancers and dark wizards as he attempts to reclaim a dark magic ritual in order to protect one of his best friends and most dependable allies. Though not a monumental fantasy series the Dresden Files are a fun bit of low fantasy that a person will find surprisingly engulfing.
