A wonderful introduction to the Metamorphoses by Ovid from the hand of Ted Hughes.

Wonderful little novella full of wit and fabulous writing!
Excellent memoir even if it‘s about a sport, but the many references to discipline, writing and goals made it a very enjoyable memoir. My favourite Murakami so far.
If you haven‘t read Mariana Enrique‘s collection of literary gothic horror set in Argentina you are missing out! It is the best book I have read all year, an utterly gripping and layered collection. I must reread it in Spanish. I cannot wait to read more by her.
Mosses were used as filling for diapers and sanitary napkins because of their absorbing properties. Amazing!
Definitely read this if you like horror or literary fiction! It‘s amazing.
Wonderfully creepy and disturbing novella. Perfect for October
To anyone who is wondering what to pick from the #Booker long-list. This is a gem of an audiobook! The physical copy is another matter, but if you want to smile your way through a forested path while listening to a beautiful lyrical play, give this one a go!
Reading this in the mornings makes me want to be more productive during the day. Just a couple of pages everyday. Notes on great, funny or ingenious ways to get to work.
Not exactly a quotable book, it‘s like a punch on the gut and a kick to the head, but weirdly you find yourself enjoying the taste of blood in your mouth.
‘In many corners of North America, it‘s harder to think of an animal that doesn‘t use beaver compounds than one that does. Aquatic insects shelter in the nooks and crannies of dams and lodges. Ducks nest in the grasses that spring up around pond fringes. Songbirds perch in coppicing willows... turtles and lizards are more abundant near beaver ponds..; that beavers increase plant species, ... fishes... mink... raccoons... frogs... mosses...‘
‘The extremes of the ascetic life were a response: create something as difficult and disagreeable as dying and you too can be as heroic as the martyrs were.‘ ‘..., almost every account of prolonged silence I have ever read or heard about contain mentions of ‘hearing voices‘, whether these come in the form of a divine intervention or deeply frightening tongues of madness‘ ‘... in the fading night, there‘s nothing else to do save be present‘
Meanwhile the clouds are white and the sky is all blue. Why so much God. Why not a little for men.
Her dæmon, the chick of a small bird like a swallow, was asleep with her, but as soon as Asta flew down, swallow-shaped too, and perched on the edge of the crib the chick woke up and immediately opened his yellow beak wide for food. #weekendreads
Beautiful collection of poetry and letters. Enraging and disturbing.
‘She‘d been sporting a skirt of cowrie shells, a fish hook in her tongue, skin of shifting sand, strands of kelp for hair and a large greenlip abalone suckered onto the back of her neck as she approached a group of terrified fishermen, her wrinkled arms outstretched and the sound of crashing waves swirling out of her salt-rimmed mouth.‘
Currently reading... first chapters are fiercely powerful, unfortunately the middle section is losing the freshness and originality that captured me at the beginning. #currentlyreading #womensprize
https://youtu.be/EEGnjj5hEE0 poetry from a deaf British Jamaican author. I read his collection last night in a feverish drive. Outstanding! #poetry #tedhudgespoetry
Best book I have pick up this year 😭 I feel crushed by her literary talent. How can anyone write after this? How can I read anything else after this? I need a hardcover for my library. #tonimorrison #songofsolomon
