A very descriptive and fun look into Jane Austen's novels. This book is a treat for Austen fans. The writing is livened by the good humor of John Mullan, whose observations shed new light on the much loved classics.

Reading one of my favorite novels before headed away from Edinburgh. This novel is such a rich tapestry of characters and magic. It always gives me something fantastical to chew over in my mind's eye. It also helps that the sheer size of it helps imagine I am a magician with a book of magic.
A very engaging read and an interesting take on the "woman falling into a fairytale world" troupe. Although there are some controversial character choices, the book is beautifully written and the story and characters will capture your attention.
A very entertaining story collection set in the world of Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell with nods to Niel Gaiman and Charles Vess's Stardust. Jonathan Strange, the Duke of Wellington, and Mary Queen of Scots all make delightful cameos in this magical alternate history. A fantastic read!
Superb annotations for Jane Austen fans. It is a bit hard to read as just the novel itself,as the annotations are on facing pages from the text, so I would not recommend for first time readers.
This books has historical and magical elements that bring new life to classic creatures and thrusts them into the immigrant culture of turn of the century New York City. Brilliant characters with a lot of heart!
This book is an engaging and surreal alternate history. Fans of The Golem and the Jinni, The Night Circus, Jane Austen, and Neil Gaiman would enjoy this novel.
