A Good Marriage | Kimberly McCreight
post image
Pickpick

This thriller is a fast paced, wild ride depicting how marriages can be very different from how they appear. When a murder occurs, you‘ll be guessing who it is throughout the whole story. It was tough to put this one down: the characters were believable and memorable, the twists were unexpected! Loved it! Paired it with my Love Notes Book Sleeve.

Congo | Michael Crichton

Crichton will always be a reliable author for me; I know there‘s a very good chance I‘ll love any book he writes. This was my first time reading Congo and I really enjoyed it. Similar story to JP, and the man vs nature theme never disappoints. As always I absolutely love the science/tech theme. Paired it with the Forest Fables book sleeve, while this one has sold out, I still have lots more sleeves on my site!

It takes a lot for me not to like a book, & I almost DNF‘d it twice. It‘s described as a who done it thriller but I found it to be slow, predictable, & repetitive. There are 6 POVs & each characters chapters were the same. Nothing happened until 230 pages in & when things finally got moving, at that point I didn‘t care. Also, the editing was sloppy. I know it got rave reviews, must be a love or hate book! Paired it w/ my Stormy Seas Book Sleeve.

Larson does it again! This 500+ page chunker was a great read. I couldn‘t read it for long periods at once but that‘s not Larsons fault. The subject matter of WWII is not one I can digest easily. But I still loved this book! Especially hearing from Churchill‘s coworkers, peers, & family. I learned a lot & it helped put our current situation in perspective. Paired with my Red Tartan Book Sleeve.

Mehhh, this was not my favorite! And that‘s saying something, it takes a lot for me not to like a book. I loved learning about Italy, Indonesia, and India: their culture, history, etc was all great! But Liz is SO unlikable! It almost ruined it for me. I‘ll keep the book butt who knows if I‘ll reread it. Paired it with my Marble book sleeve.

Hollow Kingdom | Kira Jane Buxton

Quirky, hilarious, & dark! Seeing the end of humans through a crow‘s perspective is wonderfully weird! Buxton took the Mother Nature theme deep & I loved it, especially how animals communicate w/ each other. The end left me asking HOW?! & no one seemed to share my curiosity after googling 🤣 This book is laugh out loud funny; the cat chapters are purrfect! (Come on, I couldn‘t let that pun go unsaid!) Featuring Fancy Skeleton Portraits sleeve.

Into Thin Air | Jon Krakauer

This personal narrative of the 1996 Mt Everest disaster was a great read. I knew a bit about climbing but I‘m not an expert by any means. I loved learning about Sherpa life & culture, the stigma of not making it to the top, and the epic fallout many of the climbers suffered from after this publicized disaster. It was only when I took this photo that I realized I paired a book about “the top of the world” with my book sleeve about the ocean depths!

The Library Book | Susan Orlean

Pickpick

I knew 30 pages in this would be one of my favorite reads. While I learned so much about the LAPL fire, I was fascinated about the history of libraries, especially globally. The pace took a minute to get used to but Orlean‘s writing is poetic. There were phrases I had to reread because they were so powerful. Every book lover needs to read this! This is Mischiefs Litsy debut! I paired it with my Night Circus inspired sleeve I made for myself.

TooFoo Loved this book also! 5y

Wow. This book! I absolutely loved it. Reid is quickly becoming an auto buy author for me. She has a true talent for writing morally gray characters that you love or hate. This book is very similar to Daisy Jones, so if you didn‘t care for that one I wouldn‘t recommend Hugo. I can‘t wait to pick up my next read by Reid! I paired Hugo up with my Red Tartan book sleeve ❤️🖤

I finally finished reading IT! It only took me 3 months (that‘s where sewing for 8-10 hours a day will get ya 😂). I loved this book! Was it perfect? No. While I understand why it was so long, I could have done with less. There was a ton of racism, abuse, etc and it‘s hard to digest in such a quantity, but it is Derry after all. I loved the characters and the message: bravery and hope are fragile but hard to kill. Especially with friends.

LibrarianRyan I love the fabric on your book sleeve! 5y
SewHappyStitchHappy @LibrarianRyan Thank you! I created this sleeve exclusively for a book box about a year ago, but I kept an extra one for myself 🤣 5y

Hi, I‘m back! 😊 I took a some time off to be with my family & to tweak my business. Now all my book sleeves are ready to ship, which was a huge undertaking but I‘m proud I accomplished it!

The holiday season is in full swing & I love rereading my Christmas books. Why Does Santa Wear Red is a favorite. It‘s a great non fiction book, describing where popular beliefs came from. I pair it with my Walking In A Winter Llamaland sleeve! ❤️🦙🎅🏻

rather_be_reading LOVE thr book sleeve 😍 5y
SewHappyStitchHappy @rather_be_reading thank you! I loved working with this fabric. It‘s so fun! 5y

I couldn‘t put this book down! I ate it up and I still can‘t believe that Daisy and Billy and the band aren‘t actual people. Reid does a fantastic job of story telling through the characters. It tackles some subjects that have many shades of gray.

I loved this nonfiction book about organ transplant! It was a great mix of history and Mezrich‘s personal experience as a surgeon. I especially loved the donor and recipient stories. #booksleeve #nonfiction #science #organtransplant
