It‘s been a while! Here‘s a comic I did a few months back, imagining what it would be like if I could take some of my favorite fictional crushes to my senior prom with me! #startrek #thelegendofkorra #avatarthelastairbender #thecatcherintherye #romeoandjuliet #skyhigh #prom #crushes #comic #art

The Great Gatsby | Francis Scott Fitzgerald
post image

“‘I love to see you at my table, Nick. You remind me of a— of a rose, an absolute rose. Doesn‘t he?‘ She turned to Miss Baker for confirmation. ‘An absolute rose?‘
This was untrue. I am not even faintly like a rose.”

I love how Nick felt the need to point this out in his narration 😂

Because LEGOs represent Democritus‘ theory of atoms. Or something. Jostein Gaarder likes to use some…interesting analogies. #sophiesworld #philosophy #lego #comic #art

“The room was indeed empty. Every night the waves came in and bore her off on their great tides of sound, floating her, wide-eyed, toward morning. There had been no night in the last two years that Mildred had not swum that sea, had not gladly gone down in it for the third time.”

(Well, turns out I can‘t draw realistic human faces. Or side profiles. But this was fun to draw anyway!)

The Beautiful and Damned | F. Scott Fitzgerald
post image

#inktober day 1: An illustration of a 1922 writing by Zelda Fitzgerald humorously reviewing her husband‘s novel The Beautiful and Damned in the New York Tribune. Her review is tinged with self-consciousness as she mockingly portrays herself as Scott‘s selfish wife, then discusses & defends the character of Gloria, an analogue of Zelda herself—right down to the bits that Scott stole from her diaries. #fscottfitzgerald #zeldafitzgerald #comic #art

Pickpick

This book surprised me—I expected it to be sci-fi, but it was actually a character-focused contemporary that took me through a rollercoaster of emotions. The writing is engaging, and I‘ve loved astronomy since I was five so the space-related themes captured my little nerdy heart! Then the twist ending proceeded to rip my heart out—but in a good way. Would definitely recommend!

BooknerdsLife Lovely review! 🙌🏼💖 And That drawing is so cute! 😍 6y

Their Eyes Were Watching God | Zora Neale Hurston
post image

Yes, I can draw faces sometimes! 😂 This is a comic I drew based on the books I‘ve read in my high school English classes. All the characters are specifically meant to be children—Janie‘s panel is from the second chapter of Their Eyes Were Watching God, before she becomes an adult, and Pammy Buchanan is Tom and Daisy‘s daughter.

Sometimes the best part of classic literature is poking fun at it! 😂

Happy Towel Day! I was inspired to draw this after seeing @wanderinglynn ‘s post, but I‘ve been a big fan of Hitchhiker‘s Guide since I was twelve and I knew I had to commemorate this day somehow! Note the towel at Ford‘s back as he drags Arthur off to some crazy new adventure! #towelday #hitchhikersguide #hitchhikersguidetothegalaxy #douglasadams

The Catcher in the Rye | J. D. Salinger

“What really knocks me out is a book that, when you‘re all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it.” - J.D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye

I drew this picture to express my love for this book—every time I read it, I see Holden a little differently!
