This. Book. Was. So. Good.
Heather Lloyd is a MASTER of writing. This book, overall, has been marketed as a YA but I‘ve seen it on adult lists too - and there‘s a reason for that: it is the perfect “YA” book for adults to read. Venus Black is enigmatic. This story is gorgeous and wrought with grief and strife and hope. The ending could be better, but I think that‘s because I didn‘t want it to end.
This book caused me a lot of anxiety and emotion. It was masterfully written and an honest work of art. BRB while I go torture myself with more of Genova‘s beautiful writings 😩
About to start this beauty 😍 I‘m so excited!
Better late than never, am I right? Hoping to get this finished by pub date!
Are any of my fellow #littens from Northeast #wisconsin? I‘m so jazzed about this years line up of authors for #UntitledTown and would love to have a meet up or something to that affect if anyone is traveling in! #wisco #greenbay #northeastwisconsin

So far, this tragicomic is just that... a tragicomic. Can‘t wait to delve in some more! #graphicmemoir #tragicomic
“An artist is someone who sees the structures of order and recognizes them as arbitrary.”
I was so excited for this book. When I got it finally got it from the library, I sat down and devoured the first several chapters. But then it cooled - it didn‘t have the voracity I thought it would have, having read and loved Everything I Never Told You. Despite the cooling period, I shoved my way through it and finally finished tonight (the books now a week over due... oops). It was okay, but not the best.
So, I like me some romance. I read this a while back and now I‘ve caught the romance fiction bug again but don‘t know where to start? What are some steamy contemporary novels, similar to this, that contain no BDSM? #recommendations please!
Just when you start to get a little wary of whether or not you want to finish this book, Celeste Ng masterfully drops a bomb that makes you want to call in to work #reading #thisiswhyilovetoread
Despite how much I enjoy reading, most of the time it‘s hard for me to fully submerse myself into a story. Celeste Ng makes this possible for me and it is truly a gift every time I read her. Her prose is nothing less than pure artistry and her storytelling breaks my heart in the best way ❤️ she‘s truly becoming one of my favorite authors #celesteng #reading #love #📚
This was a beautifully complex story following four siblings who learn that they‘re going to die. Benjamin TRULY did each and everyone of the Gold siblings justice - documenting with stunning vocabulary and clarity the profound effect that something you learn as a child can shape and dictate the rest of ones life. A gorgeous story with a message for everyone
Ummmmm, I cannot even begin to express HOW COOL IT IS FOR ME that my hometown community of DOOR COUNTY, WI is mentioned in this very popular book! And that the author did it such beautiful justice! #gushing #wisconsinauthors #wiscochicks #docolocal
Such BEAUTIFUL illustrations for a heartbreakingly beautiful story. It‘s graphic memoirs like these that remind me why graphic memoirs are so important and so wonderful. Thi Bui did such a good job in every aspect of this book. I‘m absolutely in love.
Wonderful illustration. I can appreciate the significance of sharks on her life, but I was left wanting to know more about her and her family.
If you feel like getting sucked in, becoming emotionally invested into a group of fictional siblings lives, and having your heart broken, THIS IS THE BOOK FOR YOU!
So far I am loving this book. I was afraid it was going to be a little too John Green-ey (which, in my opinion, is not desirable to read unless your reading John Green... not that there‘s anything wrong with John Green! Just not my cup of tea at age 23) but it‘s not. It‘s lovely. I chose it for my Teen Book Club for March and I think it will go over well! Love the male narrator / perspective.
Reading graphic novels about mental illness is usually a pretty visceral experience for me and this was no exception!
After reading Fun Home for an LGBTQ+ Book Group in college, and loving it, I thought this would be a slam dunk. I‘m currently about half way through, and it‘s okay bordering on ugh. It just doesn‘t have the story telling quality that I so loved in Fun Home... and a lot of psychoanalysis and psych terminology that is flying right over my head! I‘m determined to finish it, though.
