What a strange book! Magical, intriguing, and at times ingenious, but very very strange! I absolutely adore the whimsical cover - it certainly is a thing of beauty💫✨

Perfect reading for my Cornish travels!

An odd one. Despite the cover proclaiming it a "chillingly good ghost story for a dank drizzly weekend" I am on page 220 and ghosts have been mentioned all but three times. Still, I persevere and hope it picks up pace....

Following on the medico theme - got a feeling I am really going to enjoy this! Got a feel of the TV programme The Knick about it already.

This is probably the best book I have read in a long time! Unputdownable doesn't do it justice in the slightest. Staggeringly good. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Only just started this but already I can tell it's going to be amazing. Seems to be written in a similar style to Alex Grecian books so I just know it's going to be a winner.

Due to my op, I'm not allowed to do anything other than rest. I have reading matter, coffee and a silent, child free house. Excuse me whilst I immerse myself in the troubles of 1941 Cephallonia.

What a strange book this is. I almost feel as though it should come with a set of reading instructions. Yet, somehow, you sail through the pages at a breakneck pace. Not unenjoyable, just different. Well worth a read.

What an absolute delight of a book to pass the time whilst I wait to go in for my op this Tuesday. Where has it been all my life? Eagerly ordering more of her work to get me through the next few weeks. 📚

A staggering book, at times it's difficult to read - even gut-wrenching in places. This was described as a 'read in one sitting' type of book. It requires a little concentration and in no way a quick read but the story grabs you by the throat and doesn't let go, even after the final page. Highly recommended!

I got it in my head this was historical, still, it is shaping up to be good. It's already got me thinking about it after I put it down and I'm only three chapters in. Good stuff.

Her 2nd book and still, firmly, my favourite writer. Still in awe of The Snow Child. Nothing has come close to the imagery and escapism that book managed to invoke.

This little beauty ebbs and flows like the Blackwater it is set upon. There will be times when you think 'oh I give up' then it grips you once again. Clearly, to Sarah Perry, writing eloquent and transporting description comes as easy to her as breathing. A beautiful book worthy of the time and concentration it requires to enjoy it! Recommended.

Michelle Paver once again manages to rekindle the sublime uneasiness she mastered in 'Dark Matter'. The ultimate in suspense and eerie atmosphere. Literally unputdownable. I urge you to read this - and Dark Matter if you haven't already! A very worthy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ vote!

Only on chapter 2 but already got that "This is amazing, I am going to love this!" buzz... I am sure you know the one. You'll have to excuse me being antisocial for a while, I have a book to inhale!

I read this wonderful little book in an afternoon. Short, sweet, easy going and at times it did make me chuckle. I must admit I kinda fell for the alpha male character in this book. It says it's book one in the series so will keep my eye out for the rest. Highly recommended if you want something quick and easy.

Needed a bit of a Fraser fix. Somehow the Audible version just wasn't doing it for me. Nothing quite like the feel of an outlander book in your hands.

I picked this up when I accompanied my 6 year old to the library with school. I devoured it in one sitting. So SO good!!! I highly recommend it.

By page 8 real life, as I knew it, had to stop completely, I became so obsessed with this book. Spooky and intriguing, it is just perfect for gloomy autumnal nights. With just the right amount of century hopping, this book is an easy to read gem. Highly recommended!
