I know alot of people really love this book. I had very high expectations but I just didn't love it. I just didn't believe the relationship, why couldn't he get over this weird anxiety about being with her?? Didn't make sense to me, I felt like he took what HE wanted from her. He kept telling her that he loved her, but his actions said otherwise.

Loved this one, it's lord of the flies meets handmaids tale, with a bit of hunger games and the crucible sprinkled in.

"Four months to the day he first encountered the boy at Walmart, the last of Phil Pendleton's teeth fell out."
Captivating right out of the gate! This is a short read at just over 140 pages and I was hooked. This is so creative and weird and was just the book I needed to kick off October. Talk about original story, I've never read anything like it!

Looker by Laura Sims. An unnamed woman's decent into madness, she is obsessed with her famous neighbour. As her life falls apart, her fixation on 'the actress' becomes more intense. At only 180 pages, it was a quick read, disturbing parts, reminded me a little bit of the wives. I liked that there were no chapters and the story just jumps back and forth, but with intent by the author. It's a decent little thriller.

Reggie I loved this one. Never have I ever felt so nervous as when someone sets their neighborhood bbq dish on a table as I did with this one. Lol 3y

The narrator for an audibook can really make or break a book. I did NOT click with the narrator of this one, I don't even think she was off base with how the character would sound. However I found it really difficult to get into because of the voice chosen, it made me really dislike the main character...in fact I didn't like any of them.

I've been hearing a lot about this book on horror booktok. It's a quick read at less than 200 pages. I went into it not knowing anything about it. The story is told through a series of emails and instant messages. Honestly, I didn't love it. I think it's an alright short story but I wouldn't put it on my recommendation list.

I thought this was a pretty decent book not my favourite that he's done. Of his more recent works, I liked the Outsider and the Institute better. There was one description that made me queasy and reminded me of old Stephen King, he's still got it! I listened to the audiobook and the narrator was top notch.

Erinsuereads I LOVED the narrator on this! 3y

There were parts that I really loved but it didn't blow my socks off. I wish the entire book had been Jenny and Boot, I lost interest in the last part.

Well it's safe to say I'm enjoying Colleen Hoover. This is my favourite out of the three I've read. It was sweet and heartbreaking...which seems to be her formula. If it ain't broken don't fix it! If you're in the mood for a dramatic romance, I recommend this one.

I really enjoyed this book. I devoured it in a matter of hours. Near the end I started to suspect that maybe her husband wrote the manuscript and was the one deceiving everyone. So I was pleasantly surprised that I was wrong. The letter at the end kind of felt a little 'deus-ex-machina' but 🤷‍♀️. I would recommend.

Kara moves into her ailing uncle's oddity museum after her divorce. One day she finds a hole that has been knocked into the wall...through it, she discovers an impossibly long hallway and eventually another dimension. I loved the concept and I thought it was overall decent. The reason I'm giving it a so-so is that I don't know if I would recommend it to someone. I wanted more out of it, I feel like it was a bit convoluted at times.

"Don't ask about my past," he says firmly. "And never expect a future." This quote pretty much sums up the book. Miles went through an unimaginable pain and vows to NEVER love again...it's not worth it. But then he meets Tate and she has him questioning everything.

I loved this book for what it was, great romance! Read it in a day. I recommend if you're in the mood for a sexy romance.

I've seen this raved about but it just wasn't my cup o' tea. There were a lot of characters to keep track of and three separate storylines that converge in the end. A baby is found in a house where three adults have committed suicide in a cult like scenario. At 25 years old 'the baby' inherits the mansion and all of its secrets. Seems like a lot of people loved it, which is great...just wasn't for me. 🤷‍♀️#unpopularopinion

A mysterious stranger comes into town and Patricia begins to think that he might not be human...and even more disturbing...he might be hurting the children in their town. Patricia begins to uncover the startling truth but grapples with proving to those around her that she is not crazy...and vampires exist.

I mean, what can I say? Grady Hendrix is a genius, I am a huge fan and this book did not disappoint.

I read this earlier in the year and was blown away. I couldn't stop thinking about it. I highly recommend this book to anyone I meet. It is one of the most disturbing books I have read in a while. Very well constructed characters. A mother grapples with her difficult daughter who is completely different with her than she is with her husband. Things start to escalate and she begins to fear for her life... easy five stars.

I really went back and forth as to whether I should give it a pick or a so-so rating. This was not what I expected. A roller coaster of a book! I liked the overall story and the ending was great. The execution got a little clunky for me in the middle and into the last bit of the book, it felt like the theories and red herrings were being forced. I don't think ALL of it was necessary but I would recommend this book, it was a decent thriller.

The cover art is the best this about this book. Horrid is actually the best word to describe it. If I hadn't listened to the audiobook, I would have bailed pretty quickly. The OVER DESCRIPTION of everything was so irritating: 'she looked at the roses that glimmered in the moonlight like..... she felt a cool breeze like a....' everything had a comparison and it got old really fast. It was a chore to get through this book.
