One for All: A Novel | Lillie Lainoff

I remember when the author was doing a ton of PR for this and now there's nothing. It totally needs to be yelled about some more bc it was really good!! A story of the musketeers after the OG Ms have "retired". Tania is the daughter of a musketeer and has longed to be the heroine of her father's stories. The problem? Her mother's worry and her poor health. A story with #disability rep, sisterhood, ⚔️ fights, challenging ourselves, and self-love

That‘s a wrap! So far 2023 has been pretty good to me. I‘ve had a handful of 4 & 5 star reads, and only a couple of 1-2 stars. The tagged book was so much fun, and now I want to read The Three Musketeers. 💖

Off to put together a list for week 2 of #Jumpstart2023. 👻

For a few reasons, including that I‘m not at all hip to current YA, it‘s hard for me to judge this book. But I don‘t think I need to: if this story sounds up your alley, I‘d bet it is! One for All is a gender-bent retelling of The Three Musketeers, with not only dueling but dancing; equal parts sword fights and seduction. The central characters are four girls who all have boundless courage, tremendous loyalty, and weapons under their skirts. ⤵️

tenar It‘s also the first novel about a character with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), a common, difficult, and often misdiagnosed illness that affects me, the author, (the audiobook narrator!) and millions worldwide. As the author writes, the teenage protagonist having POTS is the least fantastical element of the story. But never having seen this part of myself on the page, it did feel more than a little magical. #DisabilityReadathon 3y

I‘ve always loved the three musqueteers, but thought the killing of milady just because she was at some point a thief was unfair( talking about the first time Athos tries to kill her)
I am glad someone else agrees with me and has written a whole novel exculpating Milady👍

Oh, how I loved this book. Milady is the nemesis of the Three Musketeers. This book is full of love, betrayal, spying, scheming, loss and redemption. Who could ask for more in a book.

This is the story of Milady de Winter, nemesis of D'Artagnan and the Three Musketeers. It's been a long time since I read The Three Musketeers and I don't remember much from it, but I still enjoyed this book completely.

On a side note, this style of cover seems to be a new trend, and I don't find it appealing at all. I can't quite figure out what I don't like about it, but I know I don't like it. But the book was good!

Sace I would like to see people with their heads. Not just torsos. 5y
Centique I agree with you about the cover. Merging two high colour images together just looks kinda tacky. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 5y

Wow. I cannot remember the last time I read a book this good. This book has it all, and I won't say a word about the content because it is so masterfully presented and weaved together that I could not reveal one thing without revealing all. Just do yourself a favor and pick up this book and read it ASAP. If you love spies, English court life, historical fiction in general, strong women, and the ties that bind, this book is for you.

This book is everything I wanted! It‘s so good! This book follows a small country girl on her journey to become the most dangerous woman in France.
