Pickpick

All the stars in all the skies!!! This may have been rather long, but Rothfuss has you hanging on every bloody word!!! I‘m still confused about Bast. I know he‘s trying to bring something out in Kvothe/Kote/Reshi, but I‘m still not sure if he‘s a source for good or for evil. Either way, he clearly really cares about Kvothe. Rothfuss really makes you love Kvothe, too, and gets you invested in his world.

BillyH Such a good read! I can‘t wait for book 3 :o 6y
GingerAntics @BillyH you and me both!!! I‘m looking forward to the 2.5 novella. I‘m hoping it sheds a bit more light on Bast, personally. Sadly, my library doesn‘t have any part of this series, so I probably won‘t be able to get it for another month or so. 6y

I‘M SO EXCITED HE‘S BACK AT UNIVERSITY!!!
Comparative female anatomy, Kvothe? Really. 🤣😂🤣 Compared to what? Why? You‘ve got an outie, girls have an innie. What else do you need to know that Felurian didn‘t teach you already? 🙄 Men.

Not entirely sure what‘s happened here, but I‘m guessing it‘s some sort of fae magic. Another one of those things so eloquently created that you know there is a whole story behind what happened/Bast did.

I love the relationship between Kvothe and Vashet so much. Simultaneously adversarial and friendly(ish).

Oddly, I see the point of this, yet at the same time, musicians usually borrow the emotions (and thus intimacy) of others, so they‘re not really sharing their own...but they are...it‘s complicated.

I just fell in love with this book even more than I was before. A lot of crazy things have happened in the last 5 years. I‘ve lost so many things. I‘ve had so many things taken away without my approval or ability to do much about it, but despite it all I‘ve still got my mind. One day I will lose it, and then I won‘t care what happens. I totally get this sentiment.

I love how Rothfuss has written these bits. They‘re so much a part of our world, yet his world is so different you know what was suggested to him, but you also have no clue how it would be described in Kvothe‘s world. This is brilliant writing.

julesG It's such a joy seeing you enjoying this book. 6y

I love anything that talks about thinking. Maybe it‘s because I think too much, and it gives me something philosophical to think about. Maybe it‘s because I feel like most people don‘t do enough thinking and society has made them that way. Not sure, but I love this particular observation of thinking.
This really does explain Elodin in so many ways.

julesG 😁😁👌 6y
julesG The quote made me think of the learning process. This is how I prefer to learn. Getting/coming up with a question and puzzling out the answer myself rather than being fed the answer/facts. 6y

GingerAntics @julesG I think you learn more that way, because along they way you learn WHY that‘s the answer and why it can‘t be something else. Everything is spoon fed now. 🙄 Then again, they‘re creating a workforce that doesn‘t question anything, so I suppose it‘s doing exactly what it‘s designed to do. Drives me nuts. 6y
julesG 😵😵😵 It's terrible, but it's the same here. Humans are explorers and scientists by nature, but -reading the Book Thief right now, I'm aware that- citizens who know how to use their brains are a problem for the government. Governments prefer docile or afraid citizens who take the government's word without asking questions. 6y
GingerAntics @julesG exactly!!! After something like the events of The Book Thief happens, they encourage thinking and questioning for a time, but ultimately they always go back. It‘s how the powerful stay powerful and the rich stay rich. 6y
GingerAntics A person who asks questions is scary to the government. A woman who asks questions is down right terrifying. 😏 I do love my life. 6y
julesG Goodness! A woman with a brain might bring the ivory tower down. 😏 6y
GingerAntics @julesG I know!!! We think the craziest things...like all people deserve and need love and respect...like everyone is important...like kindness is cool. 😳 What will become of the world with this madness rampant?! 6y
GingerAntics @julesG I was watching this show that had a group of anti-poaching personnel from Africa called the Black Mambas. These scientists went to the local villages and wanted to train the women, but the men wanted jobs for the men. They pushed for the women because they needed people who could be caring, kind, and nurturing. These women have stopped 99% of the poaching in their area. THAT is the power of women with brains. It SHOULD scare men. 😏 6y
julesG It scared men. That's when patriarchy started. Matriarchal societies could be very beneficial for all. 6y
GingerAntics The world survived on them for centuries...then the patriarchy came in about 3,000-4,000 years ago and all hell broke loose. We have recorded history from before the patriarchy, but since it doesn‘t involve wars, it‘s assumed that it‘s fairytales or made up. 🙄 Life would be much different, far more equitable under matriarchy as apposed to the patriarchy we have. “God” didn‘t do it. Men did it. 6y
