This series has carved my chest open, crawled inside the cavity and played some hardcore rugby with my heart.

Vasya, the MC, is strong, but not superhuman. She represents feminism without preaching, and builds a bridge between worlds in the process. She never claims to be more than she is, but she never denies her nature either.

I could cry with awe (which I‘ll probably do when I‘m done).

The second book following The Bear and the Nightingale (if you haven't read it I don't know what you're waiting on). Vasya is a kick ass female protagonist and the plot is beautifully composed. The book is adventure, family, and love. I am already looking for book three. 🖤

Ziggy is needing a fair amount of cuddles this morning because he‘s back in The Cone of Shame. Poor Ziggy! I‘m still trying to read over his head though and my cold has gone away so I‘m pretty content here.

I am on the couch, reading before work. This book is great, starts off right where we left in The Bear and the Nightingale. It's so nice to be in that world again.

I've gotten myself all upset because I think I'm getting a bad cold that's been going around at work. If it interferes with surgery next week I'm gonna be devastated. Trying to distract myself and just rest. ☹️

This is not a book you pick up for a quick read. This is meant to be savored. The sequel of The Bear and the Nightingale, you definitely need to read the first book in order to understand the consequences and meaning behind what is going on in this book.
