#scottbrick #suzanneelisefreeman and #justincronin five feet away from me, spending two hours in conversation like we‘re all buddies? Yes please!!! What an amazing evening. 🥰 My daughter is still squeeing about getting to talk to a “real author!” about writing. #raisingwriters

Pickpick

“The track lingered on the surface like a long pale scar. In maritime vernacular, this trail of fading disturbance, whether from ship or torpedo, was called a “dead wake.”

Larson provides a well-rounded critical account of this disaster with perspectives from both the Lusitania and U-20.

PS. Once I increased the listening speed to 1.5x, I was able to tolerate #ScottBrick, so I‘m calling it a success!

AvidReader25 I love this book! One of my favorites of Larson‘s. 7y
britt_brooke @Avidreader25 So far, I‘ve only read this and Devil in the White City, but enjoyed both. I‘ll definitely check out more of his writing! 7y
SqueakyChu This looks good. Stacked! 7y

AvidReader25 Isaac‘s Storm was really good, but I wasn‘t a huge fan of In the Garden of the Beasts. 7y
britt_brooke @Avidreader25 Good to know - thanks! 7y
britt_brooke @SqueakyChu 👍🏻👍🏻 It‘s very well done. 7y
bio_chem06 I've personally loved all of his books. Each one has its' plus and minuses but over all I've enjoyed the reading experience. 7y
larah17 I‘ve just finished The Devil In The White City and loved it, so added this to stack because I can‘t wait to read more by Larson! 7y
britt_brooke @bio_chem06 That‘s good to know because I plan to just go ahead and read his backlist (minus Devil in the White City which I‘ve read). I enjoy a good, engaging nonfiction read and he‘s proven he can deliver that. 7y
britt_brooke @larah17 I liked that one, too. I plan to just read his backlist now! He‘s proven to be informative and engaging which is what I look for in nonfiction. 👍🏻 7y
Reviewsbylola Glad the audio picked up for you! 7y

Crap! I didn‘t realize #ScottBrick narrated this book. His voice gets on my damned nerves. Maybe I can warm to him, especially since he narrates a ton of books. We‘ll see. 😬🤞🏻

sammisho Really? He's like my favorite narrator! 7y
britt_brooke @sammisho There‘s just something about his voice that irks me. It almost sounds condescending. It‘s hard to explain. I think I‘m just a weirdo! 7y
sammisho @britt_brooke No, I can totally see that! 7y

britt_brooke @sammisho I hope he grows on me. I want to listen to Hamilton and he narrates that ... and it‘s like 40 hours! 7y
Cinfhen I‘m so picky about audio narrators!! I get easily distracted if I find their voice annoying!!! 7y
Soubhiville Ew he‘s my least favorite narrator. I usually pass up books he reads. 7y
britt_brooke @Cinfhen He‘s the first one that has driven me nuts. Hoping I can stick with this one. 7y
britt_brooke @Soubhiville I‘ve been passing them up, too. This one snuck up on me. We‘ll see if I can make it through. He sounds so hoity toity and almost condescending. 7y
alanacristin I struggle with him too! 😣 7y
britt_brooke @alanacristin I‘m happy to know it‘s not just me! 7y
Itchyfeetreader I loved this book but really did not enjoy the narration. I am from Liverpool and the way he says it makes my teeth hurt. He says it a lot! 7y
britt_brooke @Itchyfeetreader Oh no! That‘s so annoying. 😬 7y
Bookzombie He narrates Jurassic Park and couple of other books, I like. I think his tone worked for them, but I don‘t know about it working for this one or Hamilton. Fingers crossed you get used to it. (edited) 7y
britt_brooke @Bookzombie I‘m getting used to him now, I think. 🤞🏻 7y
Reviewsbylola I hope you can get past it because this is an excellent book!! 7y
britt_brooke @Reviewsbylola I‘m tolerating him, lol! The book is really good so far. 7y
