Our book club selection and finally they chose a book that I hadn‘t read or heard about!😂. Set in present day and during WW2, Liv finds out about her grandmothers past secrets. The fight of the French to keep the Germans away from their champagne fields. Very good read. The French resistance and the history of champagne.

Apparently Ardent‘s The Origins of Totalitarianism includes three separate sections, which have also been published separately. This tagged book is taking me much longer to read than I anticipated because of its parallels to life now.
Interestingly, our freshman World History class just finished a unit on imperialism, & Cecil Rhodes & his crass attitude towards Africa & its people are duly noted.

TheBookHippie Yup. It‘s worth reading it all but SLOWLY. 1mo
ravenlee I‘m reading it in spurts. I can‘t say I‘m taking a break, exactly, because I‘m reading lots of other, related, stuff, but I‘m digesting this one slowly. 1mo

This one is going to stay with me for a while; a WWII Historical Fiction that looks into the French Resistance and the underground network of forgers who assisted Jews in their escape to freedom. The first half is a little slow, but it picks up. While the story is fiction, the topic is very well researched and gives you a glimpse into this amazing group of people who risked their lives to save thousands of people.
