Mehso-so

Read this regency romcom for book club and it was cute! I really liked the strong characterization in the beginning, and the plot was fun and silly, but other than that it didn‘t do a whole lot for me. Some language/perspectives seemed a bit too modern for the time period, and it got a little too meta with the tropes in places (like one character saying out loud “we‘re like a found family!”) I could be persuaded to read the next book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Everything I read in September minus Hi Honey, I‘m Homo by Matt Baume (cover not findable by the app and where would I have placed it?!) 17 books YOWZA

Frederica is my favorite with The Husbands a close second. I gave Tiger Eyes lots of stars, too but just couldn‘t get into the movie 🎥 😢

October is going a tad slower. #Sep2024 Litflu 43k

4 ⭐ I almost DNFed this book multiple times. There were times when it came to the map making shop, that things just didn‘t historically fit right with me based on all of other historical romance I have read in the past. And I don‘t know why I kept going back to it, but I did. I‘m glad I did. I thoroughly enjoyed this book once I got over whatever problem I had in the beginning. This is a typical historical romance. It‘s trophy, it‘s expected,

Lord Peter wants guardianship of his younger half-siblings, but the judge hearing his case dislikes him. Lady Selina, a friend who is excellent at fixing things, organizing, and general problem solving, suggests that Peter (who is American and inherited his title) marry well into English society, to make himself more agreeable to the judge. I laughed a lot and recommend this friends-to-lovers romance!

Strong pick! Love Heyer‘s characters, always fun. Tho, the endings always feel abrupt and of course, a foregone conclusion, but she has to end it sometime. So many words to look up, too. Fun, fun, fun 🤩

“Fudge!”

🤨🤣

Bookwomble I often say "fudge" as a euphemised expletive (though I'm not shy of the f-bomb, either!). According to this article, perhaps it would be more healthy to entirely disregard etiquette: https://theworld.org/stories/2020/06/15/when-oh-fudge-won-t-do-researchers-find-... 1mo
BkClubCare @Bookwomble - I was mostly amused that this is set in Regency England; author wrote this in 1965. I prefer to say “fudgecicle” 😊 TY for your comment 🥰 (edited) 1mo

#WondrousWednesday

1. Earls Trip, which I read with #LittendLoveRomance , was just plain fun!

2. Paper books in theory, audiobooks in practice because I can “read” them while driving, cleaning, etc.

3. Historical Fiction.

Thanks for the tag, @dabbe ! Great questions, @Eggs !

Great fun! Our heroine makes her way from Italy to post-Revolutionary France, to Regency England, outwitting various nefarious people in her life who wish to do her harm. Many adventures ensue!

It‘s on its way to you at long last, @TheAromaofBooks ! 🙄😬
