I am excited about the #20in4 #readthon starting at midnight. If I can just read two more books before Friday ends I will have completed my Goodreads goal of 150 books for 2021. Unpopular opinion.
Maybe I misinterpreted this book, everyone seemed to love it so much, but it struck me as a depressing, moralistic, shaming tale. The way the themes were used felt like it had an agenda that didn't sit right with me.

Exquisite writing. Poetic yet minimalistic. This story‘s strength lies in its stillness. I‘m not sure if it‘s because I‘m Korean, but I thought the author captured the silent hardships of the MC perfectly. Koreans are known for their “han” and especially Korean men of this time, a time of war, embody this deep silent ache. This short book is understated but focused.
This was the 2nd book I finished for Dewey‘s #readthon.
