A wonderful book for kids and grown ups which explains the meaning of the cross with simple language and expressive pictures. We love it and read it every year around Easter!

I also managed to find these books for the twins. I am most excited for This Little Scientist. It has a brief paragraph about several different scientists. #kidsbookhaul #raisingbookworms

I'm re-reading the first Harry Potter aloud to my almost 7th grader. I love that he still likes to be read to. Of course, I think it's because he can play Xbox games and still hear a great story, but I'll take it! #20yearswithharrypotter #raisingbookworms #readtoyourbunny #lupinsmyfave

This year my 6th grader came home with lots of books for his TBR thanks to booktalks done in English.
💫
#theassassinsblade is just the latest suggestion from his classmates. So I also picked up #throneofglass for him, too.

Are there guidelines you use for what your kids read? What guidelines did your parents use for you?

Figuring @Litsy out, and enjoying it so far!

Johanna414 I don't really have to worry about this as a parent yet, but as a middle high school librarian, I find that kids do a pretty good job of self-censoring as far as difficulty and maturity level. If something is beyond what they are ready for, they usually abandon it for something more appropriate. My parents never limited what I was allowed to read, and it worked well for me. I try to have the same philosophy with my students. 8y
VanChocStrawberry @Johanna414 that's my philosophy too. My parents weirdly limited what I read (no Stephen king, but lots of romance??) and I still read the stuff that was off limits. Ha! My son is really good at self regulating already. Plus, doesn't it seem wrong to curb a kid's enthusiasm for reading? 8y
Johanna414 @VanChocStrawberry that's exactly how I feel! If you start limiting what they are allowed to read, I t just stifles their growth and discourages them 8y
