readinginthedark I'm not a fan of the movie version you have pictured, but this is one of my favorite Austen works! And the movie from the '90s was so perfect for the book! 6y

readinginthedark No judgment, I'm just picky. I think the more recent Austen movies have bad casting for the female characters, including this one. She's a good actress, but a bad Anne to me--too emotional and breathy. 🤷‍♀️ There are some weird directing choices, too, like the ending where she runs back and forth across Bath in a great rush...completely ridiculous. I have a hard time getting past it. The 90s version is not as flashy but more true to the novel. 6y
