Humanae Vitae | Pope Paul VI

I was looking for a short book on my shelves to plug the gap before I can get my library hold, and found this, which my mother bought before she lapsed in her 20s, but still kept all her life. And thought, why not? I need books from Vatican for my Global Challenge. I have been thinking about birth control recently b/c the topic is in the news again (unfortunately), and I have just finished a novel by Marguerite Duras who was a pro-choice activist.

A beautiful book of text and imagery I‘ve picked up through each of my first two pregnancies. Now starting again…

Cosmos_Moon_River @Ruthiella thank you 🥰 it‘s been a while, my youngest turns 10 next week, and my other one just turned 12… a little nervous, turning 40 about half way through. I just hope everything goes well. 1y

In the light of, ah, recent events, I can recommend this as an excellent and thought-provoking, if somewhat dated, read.

batsy I've seen this show up on some lists on twitter, too. Added to the TBR! 3y

The author of this one is Norma McCorvey not Thomas Nelson.

This wasn‘t what I thought this would be....if you are a devout Christian, you might really like this book. Abby seems to play a whole “I didn‘t really know what Planned Parenthood did”, her whole family is staunchly pro-life, and had 2 abortions herself before God “spoke to me and showed me the way”. The writing was simplistic and over done.

Abortion can be such a polarizing topic, but this book was not! I thought the author was very nice to people on both sides of “the life line.” This book was about a 50 pages longer than it needed to be. Focuses mostly on addressing spiritual concerns, but also mentions some of the misleading “pro-choice” language. Not sure I would recommend it, but the overall story isn‘t bad.
