So busy at work this week, so not my best reading week, but I loved what I read! Two coming of age novels, one new and one classic..... both for #popsugarsummer challenge.

Just started an #ARC called Mayflies, and so far so great! Works for #popsummer20 too! 😊👍
Also re-reading Cheryl Strayed on audio for a bookclub next week...

Next up, one I didn‘t get to this week, and another #ARC that comes in September..🎧💕

My favorite Nicholls yet. I love that perfect blend of funny, cringy, sad, snarky and sentimental that he has, this one particularly full of nostalgia for first love, capturing that summer between school and college, so bittersweet and life changing.
It‘s 1997, in an unnamed commuter town in Sussex (it could be my hometown.) Charlie is both lonely and bored, and has a pretty troubled home life...(continued in comments)👇

My favorites were Summer of 69, Florence Adler Swims Forever & The Kiss Quotient💋

This is a real life WOW. Anthony Ray Hinton spent 30 years on death row for a crime he did not commit. He swore from the first moment that he was innocent and that one day justice would prevail. Justice came, but at such a price. Bryan Stevenson is a true hero, both men inspirations, voices for those silenced. Fantastic audio narration 🎧”Why does innocence have a price?” Our system is broken 💔

At the half way point....Thank God I know this book ends well, because right now my blood is boiling 🤬The systemic racism is sickening 🤯😢#PopSummer20 #BookSpinBingo

- Pew was subtle and strange, with beautiful language.
-Bunny was 🍌👖 in a really fun way!🐰💕
- Loved the brother sister story of The Dutch House... did a print/audio combo and Tom Hanks was outstanding as a narrator...

The Guardian review says.... “Sweet Sorrow is typical Nicholls: a little bit funny, a little bit sad with lashings of nostalgia” so it sounds perfect. 👌
I‘ve just started the audio and already loving it... and the era is perfect. It‘s ‘97 and the last day of school at a school disco, where “the Spice Girls playing is a kind of musical water-cannon to get the boys off the dance floor” 😂
