Don't You Cry | Mary Kubica
post image

All my #latestbookishbuys have been on #audible 😊 Don't You Cry in particular is the first thriller #audiobook I will be trying. I'm just not sure that genre will translate well for me. Thoughts from experienced audiophiles? 🤔 #photoadaynovember16

Alfoster Loved the book I don't do audibles. Think I should try but I'm afraid I'll get distracted. 8y
bookishkai I love all genres on audiobook. You might have to pay a little extra attention to the more complex stories, but I find I actually fall deeper into the story when I listen, like it engages more of my imagination because I can't skim the way I tend to do when reading. 8y
Lola For me, it's more about narration than genre. I like to get every single detail of whatever book I'm reading (I'll DNF a book that isn't working for me but I never skim) so tend to utilize the rewind button if I get distracted and miss even the smallest thing. I also read much faster than I can listen so I save audio for times when I can't read with my eyes (driving, cooking, cleaning-working out if, I actually did that 😉) 8y

abbiereadsbooks The only thriller I've listened to is the cuckoo's calling but I liked it! For me, it all depends on the narrator though. 8y
Lindy I've listened to three of Liane Moriarty's in audio, all done by Caroline Lee. Very good pairing. Also listened to The Turner House and loved it in audio. 8y
Megabooks @Alfoster Great to know the book is good! @bookishkris That's good to know! I'm still learning to keep up with the characters. That's the hardest part for me. @lola I'm a frequent rewinder too. I listen to it at 2x speed, but I'm not afraid to go back. @abbiereadsbooks I've heard that's a good novel to audiobook! @Lindy I just picked up Three Wishes on audio, and I have The Turner House, so I'm really happy to know that! 8y
BethFishReads I've listened to 3 of these. Great picks 8y
MPHetzer I read Three Wishes- not on audio though. It was my favorite of Liane Moriarty's books and I've read all of them! Enjoy!! 8y

Our english teacher changed every year, but all had one similarity: they all had zero motivation at all.
And so we read Kick it like Beckham 5 years in a row .... 😠😠😠😠
I hate this book so much.
I wish we read something relevant or something that can teach us english beyond 7th grade vocabulary... so I started to read my parents books, which are mostly in english, when I was 15.
@RealLifeReading

Crinoline_Laphroaig I didn't even know this was a book. 8y
TrishB @missnavigation Just about to say that! 8y
DuckOfDoom @missnavigation Maybe only in Germany, but it is not worth the read :/ 8y
Smrloomis Yikes! I don't know if my interest in anything could have survived years of the same book. Good for you for persevering. 8y
readinginthedark Wow, that sucks! We would watch the same movie several years on break days, but there was always a list of books for each year that teachers had to choose from--they wouldn't have been allowed to assign the same book every year! 8y

#photoadaynovember16 Day 5:
#threwitacrosstheroom
I already saw Twilight and The House of Night series, so I pick this on, because I really liked the book until the female main character did something which, in my opinion, did not fit at all to the scientist person she was described as.
The longer I think about it the angrier I get, even if I didn't really threw it, part of me wants to. The other part of my does not want to hurt my books

I-read-and-eat So sad, this book seemed really good. 😯 8y
Lindy Hmmm. I remember really liking this at the start, and then bailed. Can't remember why, but I guess it's a good thing I didn't wait until the throw-it-against-a-wall stage. 8y
Odd-Job-Librarian Aw. I have this on my wishlist. Good to have. 8y

Odd-Job-Librarian * a heads up. Hit enter before I was done. 8y
DGRachel This was a good choice! Something happened that really upset me, too. I wonder if we have the same objection. 8y
BarbaraTheBibliophage Well heck. I just found this ebook on sale and grabbed it up. Maybe it will end up being a hate read. 😜 8y
elkeOriginal I support this throw-across-the-room choice! I think @DGRachel and I have the same issue that made us mad. It started so well, and then...TOSS. 8y

I think I gave this one my harshest review to date on Goodreads. I debated even acknowledging that I had read it. 🙈I'm still feeling residual guilt over it; but cannot drum up anything nice to say. #threwitacrosstheroom #photoadaynovember16

andreadmw I hate giving a book a horrible review but sometimes it is needed 8y
Posemn Haven't read the book. My "like" is kudos to you for being brutally honest in your review. Sometimes that saves the rest of us from spending time on a bad book - too much good stuff out there! 8y
v_cuev Oh no! She's one my favorite authors. I love the Vampire Academy series 8y

moranadatter I didn't hate it as much as you did, but this is easily her worst book (that I've read). 8y
Jess_Read_This @v_cuev I liked her Vampire Academy too!! I think I'm still in shock how little this compared to it. @kmdartist Maybe I was on the harsh side bc I had higher expectations after Vampire Academy. 8y
Jess_Read_This @andreadmw @posemn Thanks for the support! I do feel bad giving a negative review bc I respect the work that goes into writing a book and opening yourself up to criticism. 8y
Posemn I know what you mean. It is very hard for me to pan a book because I think I would feel devastated if I spent a lot of time writing and then no one liked my work. But! Perhaps some people write because they have something to say and some people write just so they can say they write. 😉 8y
