Why I wanted to love this book, I just didn't. I found Horowitz to be very biased toward certain things dealing with dogs. This came as a surprise to me for the simple fact she studies dogs for a living.

Horowitz came across as someone who dislikes ALL breeders. Not all breeders are bad. Of course, the puppy mills are! But, those responsible breeders that have one or two litters a year, I don't consider bad. To me, they are responsible.

She also slammed spay/neuter because she had a bad experience. The only way to control the population of dogs/cats is to spay the dogs/cats that are homeless. The population is not the fault of the responsible owner, but those owners who aren't responsible and don't take care of their pets. Education is all that will help, in my opinion.

Lost in Austin | Alex Hannaford

3.5 ⭐️ soft pick

I found Lost in Austin an interesting book. Hannaford took a trip across America in 1999 and ended up falling in love with Austin. He takes us on a journey thru Austin, beginning in the 1970s to 2023.

He shows how fast the growth of a city wrecks havoc on the city. In the'70s to about 2003 Austin was a city for the eccentric and artistic. Tech moved in, and Austin's infrastructure became stressed. ⬇️

MonicaLoves2Read ⬆️ Austin could be any city in America that gives companies big tax breaks without fixing infrastructure or remembering the people who first made the city great.
Interesting read I think most people would enjoy reading it.

Not in Database. A quick biography on Catherine Parr. Parr was the last wife of King Henry VIII. He was her third husband. She married him when he was moving England from the Catholic Church to Protestant. She was smart or conniving enough not to be put to death after Henry VIII's cabinet said she was going against him when she discussed church and faith with him. Interesting quick read.

😊Happy Reading😊

What a wonderful book! Dolly Parton is a true national treasure. She's a feminist, though she doesn't consider herself one. She's done more for women than most women who spout about their feminist works. Those that make jokes about her boobs, call her dumb or a salute, well the joke is on them. Growing up poor in East Tennessee, she just liked the way, women who could afford makeup looked and she just copied that look when she was young.

Read this in one day. Last book in The Brides of Lancaster County. Rachel is in love with Silas. The only problem is, he's in love with her older sister, Ana and thinks Rachel is a little kid. When Ana leaves the Amish faith, will Silas realize Rachel is grown up? Can he ever trust someone again?

Plain And Fancy | Wanda E. Brunstetter

The third book in the 'Brides of Lancaster County' by Wanda E. Brunstetter. Plain and Fancy was well written. Laura is from Minnesota and goes to Designing School in Pennsylvania. She meets Eli Holder, who is Amish. Eli has not joined church, yet, bc he hasn't meet the woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with. That doesn't matter to his mother. She thinks Pauline is the perfect wife for Eli After Eli and Laura meet, they try ⬇️

MonicaLoves2Read stay away from each other, but it doesn't work. Soon Laura decides to become Amish, so her and Eli can marry.

There was great character development with Laura and Eli. She faced a lot of changes to her way of life. One thing I didn't like was that she complained all the time. I was thinking to myself, you were the one who chose to become Amish. Quit taking it out on others and blaming them for your decision.

Can she learn to live with her decision? What secret is she hiding from Eli? If you like Christian Fiction and have never read Brunstetter, you really need to give her a try. I think you will enjoy her books. I know I do.

😊 Happy Reading 😊

3.5 ⭐

I have to say that the first 50 pages or so were slow, but then it picked up and I got hooked. Sam is an ex-CIA that wants his kid back from the Nine Suns. The Nine Suns are a criminal organization comprised of criminals from around the world. They will give Sam his kid back, if he kills someone for them.

Looking For A Miracle | Wanda E. Brunstetter

The second book in the Brides of Lancaster County Series by Wanda Brunstetter was a good Christian Fiction Book. Rebekah is a young woman of 19 that is a paraplegic. She's been in a wheelchair since she was 6 due to a freak accident. Now at 19, she's feeling sorry for herself bc she can't do what others her age are able to do. While the young kids are courting, she doesn't think she'll ever get courted or even married. ⬇️

MonicaLoves2Read Can God open her heart and eyes to what is before? Can she overcome her doubts?

😊 Happy Reading 😊
