Packed full of knowledge. Woke takes the reader on a journey of what all these words actually mean. Stackhouse wrote it in a way that the average person can understand. It's in two parts. The first dealing with the terminology of the words. The second part deals with how to deal with these terms in everyday life. I found it interesting, though it did get bogged down with so much info.

Deader Than A Wet Hen is the second book in the Dixie French Mystery Series. Dixie visited Loblolly, SC, and fell in love with the small town. She found a little home and 3 friends. Mariam owns the dog grooming/bakery store. Ada owns the coffee shop that Dixie likes to write in. Toni is a deputy with Sheriff's Department.

love Dixie French and her friend, Miriam. They crack me up. Two older women whioseem to be ⬇️

MonicaLoves2Read ⬆️near when someone is murdered. They are amuter detectives who are not very good at all. In fact, they stumble into solving cases.

Ella Duke has written a cozy mystery series that makes solving a murder fun. She has picked older single women as solvers of murders. What I like is that all 3 women are involved somehow throughout the book, though in this one, Dixie and Mariam take the lead. If you're looking for a new cozy mystery to read, I think you might like The Dixie French Cozy Mystery Series.

Interesting, but the proof errors were just too much for me. Incomplete sentences that the rest of the sentence would appear two or three pages earlier or later. Of course, mine is an ARC, so hopefully, it will be fixed by the time it hits bookshelves. I'm giving it a so-so bc I did find it interesting despite errors.

Lost in Austin | Alex Hannaford

3.5 ⭐️ soft pick

I found Lost in Austin an interesting book. Hannaford took a trip across America in 1999 and ended up falling in love with Austin. He takes us on a journey thru Austin, beginning in the 1970s to 2023.

He shows how fast the growth of a city wrecks havoc on the city. In the'70s to about 2003 Austin was a city for the eccentric and artistic. Tech moved in, and Austin's infrastructure became stressed. ⬇️

MonicaLoves2Read ⬆️ Austin could be any city in America that gives companies big tax breaks without fixing infrastructure or remembering the people who first made the city great.
Interesting read I think most people would enjoy reading it.

To me, this book is more for pastors and leaders in a church. LeClaire is a pastor with AHOP. She discusses how to be on the lookout for Jezebel's within churches. The characteristics of them, as well. She quotes Bible passages throughout the book.

Thanks to Goodreads and LeClaire for the e-book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

P.J. Tracy's 'City of Secrets' is the fourth book in the Detective Maggie Norton Seeies. P.J. Tracy is the pseudonym for Traci Lambrecht, and she started these books with her mom.

Maggie and Al are called to crime scene, which end up being the killing of a CEO of Peppy Pet. He is in the part of town he has no reason to be. Sam Easton is asked by his mom to check on a friend whose wife has been kidnapped. Soon, these two crimes ⬇️

MonicaLoves2Read become entangled in a mess of other things. Just how big will this case become?

There's a lot going on in 'City of Secrets '. Tracy ties it all up nicely. I was intrigued from the beginning. Maggie and Remy's relationship development is notched up a bit. Sam continues to battle demons but may have a new job on the horizon. His relationship with Melidy takes a step forward. Tracy is developing all the characters, not just the main ones, that gives great depth to the book.

Wonderful cozy mystery! Ella Duke started the Dixie French Mystery Series off great. I fell in love with all the main characters in 'Something Dead the Cat Dragged In ', especially Dixie.

Dixie takes a vacation to Loblolly, S.C. to work on writing a book. She meets her landlord at a coffee shop, while there a guy drops dead. She's soon involved in a murder investigation, even though the deputy tells her to stay out of it. ⬇️

I enjoyed 'Something the Cat Dragged In ' a lot. I can't wait to see what Dixie and her friends get involved in next. Great characters!

I won this from a Goodreads Giveaway

I found this to be a cute, cozy mystery. It was a little slow for me, but it picked up toward the end. I was half right about who was involved. It's the first in a new series. Even though this one was slow to me, I will read the next one. I enjoyed learning about Meave and Chiquita. McBride had good character development with Meave. Low pick. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I read the true crime genre to try to understand why people do what they do. I like my true crime to focus on the victims, and the investigation and then the perpetrator, finally the trial. In 'A Hunger to Kill' , Mager wrote in a totally different way that I have never seen with True Crime. We know at once who the perpetrator is, and then what he has done comes out in her interviews with him. It didn't work for me. ⬇️

MonicaLoves2Read

Mager wrote a lot about herself. It was more like a memoir with a true crime thrown in. I feel that the memoir parts of the book just seemed to bog it down. I feel the way she grew up was not a vital part of the book. She came across as a caring person, I just didn't like that part of the book.

Other readers seemed to enjoy the book, so if you enjoy the True Crime Genre, you may enjoy the book. That's the great thing about books, two people can read the exact same book and get something different from it.

Short book of kids poems. I loved the illustrations in the book. The poems were cute and had a good message in all of them. Would be a great book to read to children at night.
